One of the best hotels we've been to. Great service, great room and walking distance to Quincy market and other attractions.

The Boxer Hotel in Boston gives an overall great experience. Named the boxer in honor of Boston's fighting Irish spirit, the hotel is truly in and of the city. Located close to the Garden and downtown, the flat iron building has rooms with views of the city, and even some suites with windows on three sides. It seems more upscale, but even still can accomodate both groups and families with its suites - and single rooms that can be transformed into a suite with the neighboring room. We were lucky to stay in a room that had so-called "adult-sized" bunk beds, with a double bed on the bottom and a twin on the bunk bed. Other king suite rooms reportedly have pull-out couches. The amenities in the room are a cute touch - m&ms and Toblerone, while the desk always has apples and pears to offer guests. Each room as a Keurig with complimentary coffee. There's a small fitness room to blow off steam, and a tiny fleet of bikes to check out the city when the weather is nice. How cool is that! The in-house bar also offers local craft beers. The staff are friendly and accomodating, from the front desk agents to the bartenders - special shout out to Fred at the front desk for all his help and insight on the city.

The rooms are more spacious than I expected with complete amenities (the fridge is disguised by a wooden cabinet), Keurig machine, fancy toiletries and free wifi. I don't really like Keurig but hey' free wifi. The room had this modern industrial style. There is a small gym, but if that's not adequate for you, they provide complimentary access to nearby Boston Sports Club. It's near the TD Garden so popular with people watching the games. Be warned, though, valet parking is $44! But that seems to be the going overnight rate in these parts.

As I approached the Boxer Hotel, located on a less-than picturesque street around the corner from the TD Garden, I mentally prepared myself for musty fumes, faded old carpets and grumpy staff. But I couldn't have been more off. The lobby of the Boxer was clean, airy and modern, and the staff was wonderful. And maybe I’m kidding myself here, but it didn't seem to be the forced, fabricated, customer service kind of friendliness you get at a lot of hotels; the woman at the front desk really seemed genuinely and sincerely nice. And I loved the look and feel of the guestrooms. Each room has sort of a slate colored palette, but with subtle, bright colored accents that really add a bit of fun, whimsy and personality to the place. I LOVED the colorful, hand painted illustrations of typical Boston scenes on the walls. It’s a personal touch that could have gone horribly wrong, but that was in reality quite tastefully and skillfully executed. It’s not often that you come a across a hotel that is truly unique, but also comfortable, updated and equipped with all the amenities. Five stars!

Simply put, this hotel is phenomenal. So many aspects of it greatly surpassed my expectations. From the outside, it looks like an unassuming brick building that blends in with most of the office buildings nearby. But once you step inside, you are transported to a place that I would describe as half speak-easy, half Restoration Hardware catalog. It showcases its boutique flair through its intimate size and its painstaking attention to customer service. Each room even features awesome amenities like a Keurig coffee maker, luxurious Pharmacopia bath products, robes (which vary in thickness depending on the time of year), and even hand-drawn sketches on the walls that are unique in each guest room. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to break away from the mold of a typical chain hotel in favor of a more charming and personalized experience.
