The service is warm and genuine from the first greeting on. Rooms are beautiful and spacious. Love that it's a green hotel pioneer and locally owned.

Great hotel, old fashioned stylish, they even have an ancient bellboy :-). Very hospitable and an excellent place from which to explore Boston. Also a nice limo service to the airport for less than the price of a regular cab ride!

If you were to divide hotels into "old luxury" and "new luxury," the Lenox is definitely the former. You'll notice that as soon as you step inside and notice the interior is almost too heavy with gold (I say almost because you can’t really have too much gold). The fireplace adds to the effect. The rooms in the hotel fit into the “old luxury” model with heavy drapes on the windows and wooden headboards. The rooms also have large, walk-in closets which are actually larger than the bathrooms. If you’re the type of traveler who likes to eat in your hotel, you’re in luck as the Lenox has two different restaurants and a bar. Solas, an Irish pub, is open for lunch and has entrees priced in the $11-$17 range, a definite bargain. City Table opens for dinner and their prices entrees start at $17, still a fair price.

This is what I think when I hear the phrase “luxury hotel”: a roaring fireplace in the lobby, old-fashioned bellhops, a décor heavy on gold. The rooms are slightly old-fashioned in style, with paintings and carved wooden headboards instead of the kind of sleek faux-modern style you’ll sometimes see in a lot of higher-end resorts. I did think the fitness center was a little small, and also kind of awkwardly placed at the bottom of a flight of stairs. One key thing you’ll notice about this place is the availability of food. There’s 24-hour room service and three different on-site restaurants, each of which has its own style: City Table is an upscale fine-dining and seafood place, Solas is a more down-to-earth Irish pub accessible from the street, and City Bar is sort of a median between the two. It serves food, but mainly smaller/fancier dishes, and it’s got a nice, lengthy wine list. The complimentary coffee in the mornings is a nice touch too.

Stay at the Lenox Hotel and eat at City Table because there's something to be said for class, but there's a ton more to be said for a steaming pile of sliders. Bringing the common man that second option, City Table. Taking over Azure's old white tableclothed upscale dining locale in the Lenox and replacing it with an earthy "neighborhood eatery", CT has casualed their efforts on the aesthetic side (revamping the 90 seat space with dark wood high tops, bamboo floors & comfy green/brown banquettes) as well as the grub, with American comfort style small dishes, creative sammies and traditional-sized entrées, as well as an extensive wine and "free-spirited" cocktail menu that flunked out of Oberlin to write long form poetry about the evils of penis-culture. Tapas-wise, there's caramelized potato gnocchi w/ braised veal, shitake mushrooms, and pears; soy lime dressing-smothered tuna tartar w/ cucumber, avocado, and papaya; and ancho-rubbed hanger steak tacos topped w/ guac and spicy tomatoes, which only rate Antonio Banderas films. CT also serves up grass fed sirloin, lamb, and crab cake sliders; a red wine sauce-drenched blue cheese crusted filet w/ whipped Yukon potato and broccoli rabe; and a roasted duck breast atop herb risotto in a Michigan cherry sauce, which is actually an Ohio State fan to the horror of everybody. Because small servings mean more drinking, there's a 50 plus wine list in addition to cocktails like the Kentucky Flu (Maker's Mark, Licor 43, and citrus juices), and the chocolate vodka and white crème de cacao-mixed Willy Wonka for the man who deems class less important than snozzberries...and girl drinks. http://thrl.st/qPrKWQ

San Jose

The Lenox is the place to be if you want to ball it and visit Boston.

It is not luxuriously modern, it is not chic nor boutique, and it isn't my style, but it's definitely up there in class, swagger, and that historic meets modern attitude I LOVE about Boston everywhere I go.

The Lenox I believe is the #1 or #2 rated tripadvisor hotel in Boston and although I considered briefly, ever so briefly, the price tag of $400 a night for a 4 night stay (yes, gasp now would be appropriate!) ... I just couldn't stomach all the good food I would be spending on otherwise.

The hotel is nice, it's got this presence that you can't deny even walking up to it. You feel overwhelmed and then all at once in awe of what Boston really is. The bathrooms available for lobby guests are nice a and smells of old world fragrance and you can always steal wifi from the lobby.
