It's a surprisingly big inn conveniently located near the Aquarium, the harbor, Faneuil Hall, and the downtown area, so it's great for tourists who want to see all those attractions, especially families. It's just behind the Aquarium T stop, so it's convenient to go everywhere else, too. The bathrooms are tight, but the rooms are pretty good-sized, and they have a nice work station area in the lobby. The rooms are simple but modern. It's clean, nice, comfortable, and super convenient.

With friendly staff and a hip design, the Harborside Inn purports itself as one of the more cost-friendly hotels in the Boston area. It is located almost right on the Harbor, close to the New England Aquarium and access to the Harbor islands. It's a quick walk to Fanueil Hall and the Financial District as well. Unfortunately none of the rooms overlook the water. You can choose from sweeping views towards the city (for a higher rate) or windows that face inwards the atrium. Although the amenities are limited in order to keep costs down for guests, there is free wifi everywhere, access to a business center, as well as an in-house bar downstairs and an in-house Starbucks. Rates are highest in October, when visitors flock to the city for Fall's New England landscapes and colors, so be mindful of that when booking. The Inn is contemporary in style, but not so much that you'll be confused as to how to turn on the shower!

The Harborside Inn is a smaller boutique hotel just a stone's throw away from the aquarium and a number of sea-faring activities along the harbor. It is in a safe, pedestrian friendly area without countless restaurant, bar and shopping opportunities; Quincy Market and Fanueil Hall are just around the corner. It's an older building, dating back to the 1800s, and a lot of the exposed brick you see is original. While some of the rooms on the higher floors have views, many rooms just overlook the inner courtyard, so this is something to keep in mind if you want something more interesting to gaze at. It's also important to note that there aren't coffee makers in the rooms (though there is starbucks on the ground floor), and they don't serve breakfast so you'll need to leave the property to fuel up! And all rooms only have one bed.

As far as boutique hotels go, this is a remarkably solid choice in a great location near the harbor. It has a loft-like feel to it, with exposed brick galore, as well as really high ceilings in some of the guest rooms. Each guest room also has a huge, floor-length mirror, which I found both unique and very functional, considering the bathrooms are not all that large. Besides the bar and business center on the first floor, this hotel doesn't have a lot in the way of extra amenities. But to make up for their lack of fitness center, they offer passes to the nearby Beacon Hill Athletic Club. The Harborside Lounge opens every day at 5 pm, which is also when the normally quiet lobby comes to life after all the tourists start to wander back from a long day of sightseeing.
