Bosnia and Herzegovina is a fascinating, ethnically diverse country. A lot of people still associate it as an underdeveloped, war-torn area. While there are still sadly signs of war (ie. bullet holes in some buildings, areas cautioned off cause of mines), the modern-day country has come a long, long way, with beautiful, often restored buildings, friendly people, great Turkish-influenced food, very hike-able nature and affordable prices, especially in comparison to Western Europe.

You went were? Most of our friends have no idea where this area is except when you say Yugoslavia. Then they talk about the conflict. This country has gone well beyond the war years and really put things back to normal. The tourists are welcome and the people are friendly. If you are in the area try and add this to your schedule.
