Blackpool Tower is the city's most famous landmark. It rises 518 feet into the sky and on a clear day it offers sweeping views of the Isle of Man, Lake District and Liverpool. The tower was opened in 1894 and inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Those who don't mind heights can walk out onto the glass viewing platform to look at the promenade far below.

I really enjoyed this place, little scary going on the glass walkway but worth it as it was thrilling.

Blackpool Tower is Blackpool's famous landmark. The 519 foot Tower houses exhibitions and entertainment for the whole family. Kids will particularly enjoy Jungle Jim'sand the Dinoasur Ride. Tere is also te the most famous Tower Ballroom.

The view from the top of the tower is pretty cool and the glass floor will entertain kids but the price to get to the top is this Eiffel tower wannabe makes is almost prohibitive for families. If you're feeling flush then give it a go.

Didn't get to go up to the top of the tower, but did visit the Tower Ballroom where I stayed for a few hours, and I could have happily stayed there for much longer! It is by far one of the grandest ballrooms I have seen and I was very happy to have danced to the Wurlitzer there, whilst learning a few new sequences too. Already planning to come back here - Superb!

EDIT: I have now since come back to Blackpool to finally go up the tower! You can't go up to the very very top, but you do go up a fair way up the tower. The best views are from the viewing balcony where you first stop off anyways, where there's a glass floor beneath and you've got to build up your courage to walk over it! One unique I found interesting was that before you go up the lift, you talk part in a 4D adventure which takes you on a virtual tour around Blackpool with the floor vibrating and gushes of air being blown in your face. It may be a bit expensive, but you can definitely make the most of it.

A scaled down version purportedly of the Eiffel Tower but without the views. Ballroom dancing fans should head for the world famous Tower Ballroom in the building below.

Blackpool tower with it's huge Victorian charm has an amazing circus it was that entertaining that my very hyperactive son sat on the dge of his seat. The circus is three hours long so it's excellent value for money consider you only pay one entrance fee per person. We then went on to the top floor which is a children's paradise with it's huge rope swings and bouncy slides and castles. The children get one hour in each but you do have to pay an entrance fee. There is a cafeteria in the kids play area where drinks and snacks are a reasonable price is great for basic refreshments.Three is a larger cafe serving classic meals at sky high prices so you may what to take sandwiches.Plenty of arcade games and fruit machines can be found in this amazing Victorian maze where you can play all day,it's excellent value for money compared to what you would spend in the fun fair alone.

An icon of the north, and on a clear day can be seen from the beaches on Meerseyside, or from Morcambe to the north. From the top, you can see over to the Isle of Man on a clear day, but Blackpool itself is not what it used to be. Tacky seaside resort, with too many B&B's and hen and stag do's. Only really worth a visit to go to the theme park

The Blackpool Tower isn't just about reaching the top and experiencing the views of Blackpool (don't forget to check out the glass floor!) There is also the Tower Ballroom (which is famous for hosting ballroom dancing), The Tower Circus, and most recently, The Tower Dungeons. Definitely something to please everyone!
