Weather

Unless you enjoy walking around in a sauna, you’ll want to avoid Mississippi in the summer (June to August) when temperatures reach oppressive conditions. Daytime highs stay in the mid-90s Fahrenheit (mid-30s ... Read more
Celsius), and severe weather -- in the form of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes -- is to be expected. For optimal weather conditions, head here in the early spring (March) or late fall (October and November, after the threat of hurricanes have passed) for temperature highs that stay in the comfortable 70s Fahrenheit (low- to mid-20s Celsius). Winter is also fairly pleasant, though wet. If you’re headed to the Gulf beaches, fall and late winter will provide the finest weather; summer’s cooler coastal temperatures are offset by the threat of a storm.

St. Petersburg

Still suffering from hurricane devastation but the town center is nice and is being restored. Don't miss the old hardware store on Howard. It's a real throw back in time.

This charming coastal town was one of my favorite places I stopped during a four-state road trip through the South. There are plenty of historic Victorian houses, beautiful beaches and great food, along with a friendly local population.

Founded in 1699 by French Explorer D'Iberville, The French Townhouse is squarely in the middle of Biloxi's Historic District.

Biloxi, Mississippi was originally settled by the French in 1699, and was French up until the city was ceded to the British after the French defeat in the French and Indian Wars of 1763. Biloxi became an American state in 1817, and has thrived ever since. It's economy is based on casino gaming, tourism, and seafood. It is a wonderful city to visit!

I came here before the hurricane. I thought it was a nice little town on the coast line. Got some great casinos. It's sad that it got so devastated after the hurricane, I hope it's doing well and recovering nicely.
