Very touristic place. It's the only place in Berlin where you can see blockbuster movies in English. Really beautiful ceiling which is colourful at night.

Local from Berlin

Two of the best ways to see the Sony Center are after dusk or at Panorama Point on the other side of the road to see it from above!

Berlin-Kreuzberg

An architectural feat of glass and steel with a futuristic, soaring pitched glass ceiling. This massive centre holds restaurants, shops, an IMAX and museums. This whole area in the centre of the city was completely destroyed in the war and pronounced a 'no mans land' during the years of the wall. So everything at Potsdamer Platz has been built in the last 20 years or so and is very shiny and new.

An amazing piece of architecture (that Dome is marvelous) which hosts several restaurants, an IMAX cinema with English language films, the Film Museum and free wi-fi.
Here and there are the remains of the former Potsdamer Platz (destroyed during WW2) , which are fascinating to discover.

The Sony Center is a recently built complex of housing, business offices, shops, restaurants and tourist attractions including a movie theatre and central area that features performances. The area is busy with people. The architecture is particularly attractive.

This is an interesting place to go especially when the weather turns against you. Stop in and relax, sit down and have something to drink and eat. They have nice exhibitions here as well.

The Sony Centre forms part of the new Potsdamer Platz - you can't miss its impressive dome roof. The centre features a great Film Museum, cinemas, restaurants and cafes, as well as a mini Lego Land, with a model of Berlin built entirely out of lego. Although this is all now, history fans will be interested in the remains of the Hotel Esplanade (the Kaisersaal), which now form part of the SonyCentre. During the Cold War the remains of the hotel stood in no-man's land. After the Wall came down and plans were made to re-build Potsdamer Platz, they (thankfully) reconsidered plans to demolish the Kaisersall and instead moved it and incorporated it into the structure.

This complex of buildings around a central covered plaza is called the Sony Center. Sony and it products are prominently on display here. But there is also a cinema, a hotel, different shops and several restaurants. The restaurants all have a lot of seating on the covered (but open to air) plaza. it can get extremely busy in the evening as this is a popular spot. it is very close to the Potsdamer Platz.

They show movies in their original form at the cinema. It's great when your German isn't so great and you really just want a taste of home. Outside there are tons of restaurants and it just seems like tons of people like to hang out for some reason. Other than the movie theater and restaurant, the giant tent provides some good shade in the summer months, although it is northern Germany, so it's never too unbearably hot.
