Just 18km from Issigeac, the medieval town of Bergerac is worth a day out. Markets are Friday and Saturday. The medieval quarter is a great place for a morning stroll with lots of street cafes for lunch or just a glass of wine to get in out of the heat and people watch.

Tour the Dordogne river on an ancient tobacco boat, eat in Bergerac's many restaurants, wander the lanes, shops and gallerys and enjoy the sights and history. Or drink an espresso or beer and watch the world go by.

Bergerac is a great town to visit for fab shopping, a bite to eat and rainy day activities such as bowling, go karting and trampolining. Also has a vibrant night life with various festivals and markets taking place during the summer.

Bergerac, in the heart of the Périgord Dordogne region, is an ancient and compact city, characterised by its elegant medieval and Renaissance buildings. Gourmet restaurants, street entertainment and the fact that the whole city can be explored on foot are all part of its charm. Bergerac is renowned for its wine, and a short trip to the outskirts of the city reveals a landscape of vineyards that produce some of the world’s finest vintages.
