Very impressive and imposing structure adjacent to Tiananmen Square. Remember the Olympics?

Despite the horrible destruction of the hutongs that were in this area, the "egg in the water", as it is sometimes called in Beijing, magnificent opera and concerts take place. The architecture inside is compelling and made entirely in glass, steel and the vault is of brasilian wood. Three concert halls in there.

The National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing (國家大劇院) is also fondly known as the bird's egg by the locals because of its silhouette that resembles an egg on its side

This is one magnificent structure that is actually an island since it is surrounded by a moat like body of water. To access the concert halls, one has to cross an underwater tunnel that is made of glass. The effect is really cool as you can still look up and see the sky through the moving water above.

Once arrived at the main building, the awe effects continue as the interior of the structure is just as massive and imposing as its exteriors in an artistic way. What a proud building to represent the arts and culture for the nation.
