Description
The Great Wall of China is actually a misnomer. The series of walls, the first attempt made in the 5th century BC and improved upon until the 1500's, kept out various invading tribes and enemies ... Read more
throughout the centuries. The Great Wall stretches from the Liáoníng province to Jiāyùguān in the Gobi Desert, with almost 4000 miles of wall along a 5500-mile route. While much of the wall has been destroyed or is threatened from weather or road-building construction, the sections near Beijing are well maintained. UNESCO designated the structure a World Heritage Site in 1987.

One of the 7 wonders of the world, it’s AMAZING!!
A bucket list moment fulfilled.
I got as far as Fortress Tower #9. The steps could be steep in some places, so be careful.
The view was breathtaking, the achievement of climbing the Great Wall exhilarating =)

If you come to China, this is one of the biggest attractions that must not be missed! The Great Wall is something we all know of, but to see it in front of you is an experience you will never forget. The stairs may be uneven and slippery at times so take care, but have fun and capture memories for life on the wall! There is also a cable car to go up to the first tower and a tobogon to come down if you fancy, although this isn't mandatory. Have fun!

The wall is simply amazing, no matter where you decide to climb it. You may want to try out several access points, as the views will be different. Depending on the time of year that you are visiting, you might encounter snow or blazing hot temperatures, so plan accordingly.

It is cool to be in a place that is so famous. Saying like, ohhh after that much time I have been able to be here. However, as anything you have so much hype for, might be a little disappointing.

The Great Wall certainly earned its name. Both massive and beautiful it is one of the top things to visit and see in China, the climb is not for the faint of heart (although some locations are easier to climb then others).

Being one of the wonders of the world, it was on the top of the list to visit. My 3rd wonder to visit. One day soon, I'll return here to have a long hike on the wall.

Wow! One of the seven wonders of the world and well worth a visit. It's amazing to climb up and look out and see just for far the wall goes on for. Try to walk along the wall for awhile to stray from the crowds. I imagine it's much different now; we were here in 2001.

If you're in China you need to visit the Great Wall! Really crowded near the base but by the time you climb to the 3rd or 4th tower it seems to be pretty clear.

You should definitly try to go to the wild part of the wall. It feels amazing being alone there !
However, you need to know that there is a lot of up-and-down and that's quite slippery. Good shoes are a must !

ABSOLUTE MUST!! there are some areas that they say are "good if you like to walk" - that means you love to HIKE! it's high altitude and some parts of the wall aren't as kept up as others so be prepared!! bring sunscreen and snacks and also be prepared to say "no" to the chinese ladies who want to "help" you along the way. they will follow you for miles...

I remember coming here as a 7 year old child with my dad, cousin and uncle. It was an unforgettable memory that I have till this day.

It's a family trip, a once in a lifetime experience and adventure at the same time. If you have the chance to go to the Great Wall, DO IT! JUST DO IT!

The mighty walls makes you feel very tiny and lets you have a glimpse to humans history.

The Great Wall of China (万里长城) is one of the seven wonders of the modern world and is arguably the most famous sight in China. Construction of the original wall began in 200BC and continued to be altered and enhanced all the way to the 14th Century Ming era. The main purpose of the Wall was to defend China from invaders in the neighbouring north. The length of the wall is almost 4,000 miles long and stretches all the way across the northern section of China. The most visited areas of the Wall include Badaling section, Mutianyu section and Simatai section, all accessible from Beijing city.
