architectural icon. Designed by Antoni Gaudi, the story of the church's construction is as byzantine and complicated as the structure itself. The three façades of the church each have a different look and feel. The ornate Nativity Façade, covered with depictions of Jesus' life, is the only one completed before Gaudi's death, and critics say it best represents the architect's intentions. Both the Nativity and Passion towers are open to the public.

The church is very big and pretty. I recommend the park near the church, and buy tickets in advance !

The Sagrada Familia is the most well-known and characteristic monument in Barcelona. As a maximum exponent of modernist architecture created by Gaudí, thousands of tourists flock every day to temper the curious but unfinished temple.
The construction began in 1882 with a neo-Gothic style. A year later the project was put in the hands of Gaudí, who reconsidered it completely. Gaudí designed an exceptional and innovative temple that was to be composed of 18 towers, although finally he only had time to create one of them before his death.

Gaudí died in 1926 leaving unfinished the project that occupied the last years of his life but, thanks to the plans that are preserved, his dream becomes reality little by little thanks to the work of other artists and to the money obtained from the donations and the visits.

One of the top attractions in Barcelona. Of the three times I have been to the city, I have only appreciated it from the outside. I might just wait for it to be completed, the lines are very long.

Beautiful basilica that is still under construction. Though tours are available, it's beauty can still be admired from outside!

Absolutely stunning. Doesn't matter if you're a local or a tourist there's always something new to see here as it's constantly being constructed and newly added to. Such a breathtaking experience.

La Sagrada familia is an unfinished Catholic Church in Barcelona. It's interesting as a piece of architecture, but keep in mind that it will almost always be under construction. It adds to its charm.

Really interesting concept. There is a panoramic elevator inside, which seems to fit, despite this being a catedral.

I’ve been here twice and I definitely see myself coming back in my next visit to Barcelona. It’s amazing how Gaudi’s legacy is celebrated in this place. Though you know the construction is not done, it always feels gratifying to see the progress. The audio tour recording is very succinct, makes you feel like you’re speaking with Gaudi. You’ll get to understand what were his thoughts when he came up with his work. The well-narrated audio gives you inner peace while you walk around the basilica.

One of the most amazing architectures in modern history. You have to see it to know how gothic can be so cool and untraditional. A must to visit in Barcelona, and don’t miss the inside tour of the stained glass.

An amazing place. Recommend going just before sunset to see the sun make the entire cathedral glow with colour.

This is no doubt the highlight of a Barcelona trip. You cannot go to Barcelona and not visit La Sagrada Familia. Barcelona is Gaudi's city and La Sagrada Familia is his masterpiece. One of the most beautiful and amazing architecture of all time! The details are genius and every bit interesting. Can't wait for its target completion on 2026, Gaudi's death centennial.
