Description
Those looking for a bargain on local cuisine and produce might be overwhelmed, in the best of ways, at Barcelona’s Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria. More commonly known as La Boqueria, this public ... Read more
market can be accessed from an entrance along Las Ramblas. Visitors are initially welcomed with colorful candies and fresh fruits. To the left, bar areas and restaurants serve affordable Catalan dishes, most notable of which are the enormous seafood platters. Want a seat at the bar? Be assertive and brush up on your Catalan, because there isn’t much English here.

A foodie’s paradise. You can find most types of Spanish food here. It’s famous and always full of people; locals and tourists alike.

Popular market filled with both locals and tourists. Easily accessible from central touristy area and Las Ramblas. Must do while visiting BCN

A large public market located in the popular La Rambla. This is where you can find so many food items in one location. There are also lots of restaurants and cafe. You need a lot of time to explore here. I love the fresh fruit juices they sell here and of course the different varieties of tapas with the local sangria.

I honestly thought this market was just alright but I found some AMAZING restaurants inside of it (or more like booths). I ended up having fresh paella here with some wine. Forgot the name of the stall but do recommend that experience.

The atmosphere is so fun! It's probably all overpriced, but just to walk around the market is amazing in itself. There's also a good seafood bar towards the back.

Lots of people and food, fruits, fish, chili, nuts and juices. An existing place, a visit you won't regret.

A real fun market to spend half an hour; it offers also some local tapas restaurants inside and possible food-souvenirs

Amazing market. So much history in these stalls and so many fresh products. It is a tourist spot so our gets crowded but you can find almost anything here from restaurant stalls to food stalls.

Amazing market. Makes me wish we had markets like this in Scotland. Every food you could think of fresh and tasty. Plenty of cafe's and restaurants on the perimeter of the market. Well worth a visit.

At only one street, the most traditional market of the city, where you could find all kind of fresh products, and over all it`s peculiar stands of tapas, as also the best selection of local wines, and you`ll be welcome at the shop "celler de la Boqueria", where my guests will have the best recomendation and the oportunity to taste some good wine of the day.

A Market wich looks so nice, so colorfull, you just have to browse trough it. But it's funny, the more you get in the back of the market, the less show you will find on the stands. ;-)

However, still it's the place to be if you need a refreshment or even a lunch, you can get it here just as candy and veggies and fruits and smoothies, make sure you walk a little further on to the back, it might be cheaper with the same quality.

Magic place. During the autumn, when tourism decreases, Catalans usually go to the market for grocery shopping.

I wasn't sure if La Boqueria would live up to my expectations, but it exceeded them! Yes it is jam-packed with tourists but it has so many great treasures! I'm sure the prices are inflated but they seemed pretty reasonable to us. Go further towards the back for better prices on fruit juices!

This is the most famous market because it is placed on the Ramblas, so, because it has a lot of tourist everyday, it is a bit touristy for what concerns the prices and the treatment that you get, but it is gorgeous anyway!

There are so many fruit, ham, seafood shops here. You can buy fresh juice, fruits, seafood snacks or salads in very cheap price here. Remember to walk more deeper inside the market to get the best deal.

La Boqueria is a bustling working market. Sample a slice of the "best of the best" the famous only acorn-fed Jamón Ibérico ham from one of the vendors. We snagged a bite to eat at Bar Clemen's in the back of the market and really enjoyed the friendly staff and the fast service. Helpful Tip: For the best prices, head further back in the market. (You'll notice the price of a fresh juice goes from two Euro to one Euro in the back and the same goes for the tasty meat snacks, etc. :)
