mysterious feel, one that has been taken up by the many fashion designers, restaurateurs and artists who populate the area’s commercial real estate. The neighborhood is extremely popular with young people and students, who turn it into an echoing maze of late night fun throughout much of the year. Barri Gotic also contains multiple museums, including the Picasso museum, and some impressive churches.

The old part of the city dating back to Roman times. Narrow streets and full of character. There are free walking tours leaving from Placa de l'Angel so worth taking to find out the local history. Very busy at times, but worth it.

This is the “old” part of Barcelona. Get lost among the little alleys and have a drink or a bite.

Local from Barcelona

This is a very touristic neighborhood and for good reason. The narrow streets are packed with history. There are plenty of museums and churches to visit, but I also recommend just taking some time to get lost in this beautiful part of Barcelona.

Beautiful large area in medieval style. We were lucky to observe a medical fest celebration of large figures in traditional costumes of the time dancing on the central piazza.

The Barri Gotic is a historic district of narrow, winding streets. The history is amazing - many buildings date to medieval times, and in one section you can see parts of the original Roman Wall. El Call - the historic Jewish Quarter - is also located here. While there is lots of history, this is also a fun shopping area, with lots of little cafes hidden as well.

Right off the Ramblas, its the Gothic quarter of Barcelona which dates back to Roman days. Here you will see many neo-gothic architecture and most say there were restored. Barcelona Cathedral and the Placa Reial were the must see in this area.

I loved this narrow and winding area of Barcelona. It made me think of mystery! This area is great for culture lovers, you'll find museums (like the Picasso one) and churches to visit here. Also there are tons of cute tucked away boutiques as well.

This is the Gothic Quarter in the center of old town Barcelona. It is easy to get to right off La Rambla and goes down to the water. Great walking area.

For me Barri Gòtic is the real Barcelona. I'd spend my entire visit here if it wasn't for La Boqueria and Gaudí. It's the authentic Spain that almost everyone is looking for with tiny alleys, churches and catalan tapas restaurants. Barri Gòtic is also ideal for any thrifter as you can stroll amoung shop after shop at Carrer D'Avinyo.

Historic area in the centre of Barcelona. However take care as it has a reputation for petty theft

This is Barcelona's NY Soho...it's loaded with great restaurants, bars, museums and people watching. Going from Tapas bar to Tapas bar is a great way to bounce around while stopping into bars here and there...

The Gothic area of Barcelona. It is right of the Ramblas and is like walking back into history some 500 years. The buildings and winding streets are charming and thoroughly enjoyable to get lost in.
