afternoon wading in the surf, collecting seashells or building sand castles. Beach bars called chiringuitos provide a range of refreshing cocktails and other cold beverages. Stroll down the boardwalk to observe the local culture, and pause to admire the quirky-looking Homenatge a la Barceloneta statue created by Rebecca Horn, or the massive golden fish sculpted by Frank Gehry.

A nice beach, but really overcrowded. Must keep an eye on your belongings. Loud drink/scarf and so on sellers.

This is a very conveniently located beach, right in town. We we here in winter, so we just strolled the boardwalk and ate seafood along the water, but it was lovely.

The Barceloneta beach is the most touristy of all the beaches. If you want to find a spot make sure to get there early, otherwise I would survey walking a little to one of the other beaches.

At short distance buy foot, bus or taxi, the traditional Barceloneta neighbournd with its beach in summer or winter with the great maritim front of the city, from the Olimpic games of `92 for the local people and vistors is one of the most attractive places for a free time, with a lot alternatives of aquatic sports, good and traditional restaurants.

I like the beach even though we came here in a windy winter. Many boys and girls are exercising in the outside. With the sea and the sunshine the city feels very active.

If there is something that is free and beautiful available for everybody, that is for sure the Barceloneta beach. Well, the water might not be the best, since Barcelona is also a big harbor, but if you need a place to lay down in the warm sun, this is for sure the right solution. Also, the city of Barcelona provides frees showers and toilet services, what else you need except from some sun screen?

Having been to 25+ beaches around different countries, the quality of sand and water is not nearly as good, but it's a great place to hang out while in Barcelona.

A clean beach right next to the city. Take care of your belongings and don't buy any thing at the beach.

I confess I like warm water and live on an sub- tropic island. This pretty beach populated with happy swimmers was too cold for my taste. It was scenic and I enjoyed relaxing on the sand.

I stayed in Barcelona for the weekend with a friend and Barcelonata beach was definitely one the highlights of of our trip! It's a long sandy beach that is easily accessible by metro and the atmosphere is lively with tons of people lying in the sand, vendors walking around trying to sell you drinks and snacks, and music playing from the beach bars on the boardwalk. We actually couldn't drag ourselves away from this beach on the last day and therefore ended up running through the airport to catch our flight, which we ended up missing by 5 minutes, all because of this beach! But it was worth it!

Barcelona is still growing even booming at the moment! It is amazing to see a city so close to the beach! If visit Barcelona definitely take the time to make it down to the beaches. I would highly recommend getting a meal at one of the great affordable restaurants right on the sea!

Popular and fairly clean sandy beach relatively close to the city centre. Something I was not expecting to find in Barcelona.
