Super cool little place serving cheap glasses and cava, meats, and cheeses. Standing room only. One of the only places so far in Barcelona where I would not bring my toddler with me - too crowded. But great for adults!

Bustling, chaotic and exciting tapas and cava bar. Probably visited by locals less and now more by tourists like us.

Cheap, tasty snacks and cheap cava. For three of us and a bottle of wine I think it cost us less than 20eur. Will be back !

Years ago I used to live opposite this small bar, which was frequented mainly by old men and had lots of legs of jamon (ham) hanging from the ceiling. Today, it still looks pretty much the same (apart from the new glass door), however it's became somewhat famous and a trendy place to go for tapas, wine and cava. The food is nothing special and is still very basic, but the bar is inexpensive and always has a great atmosphere. Like many traditional tapas bars, there's not a great deal of options for vegetarians.

Fancy a glass of bubbles for 1,10€. What about some slithers of jamon serrano for round about the same price? Can Paixano is the cheapest place in Barcelona for traditional tapas and cava. It's not wonder it is jam-packed every night of the week. The mood is festive; the waiters are playful; the cava will of course keep filling up. This is a great place to start the night. Be careful not to get carried away and be the last one standing there.

Can Paixano, or "Wine Bar," is pretty popular with the locals here. It's been packed every time I've visited (which has been more than a couple times). The wine is cheap and the sandwiches are pretty good. I've heard the tapas aren't bad either, so try that on for size if you're interested. Recommended.

This may be my favorite dive bar in the world. Located close to the Wharf in Barcelona - this local haunt serves nothing but sausage and champaign (well Cava). Its cheap, cheerful and full of spanish flavor. No trip to BCN is complete without a stop at this legendary cava bar near the sea. Go There Now.

Can Paixano, often called "La Champagneria", is the most known Cava bar in the city and serves it's own refreshing bubbles. Located between the Born and Barceloneta districts, it is well-placed for an after-beach glass of fizz and a plate of Jamon or hot meat roll (drinks are not served at Can Paixano unless food is ordered - but prices are low averaging 3,50 Euros total for a drink and tapa). My suggestion to beat the inevitable crowds would be to visit early-morning (open from 09:00) and have a breakfast roll alongside the locals - later in the day tourists dominate, however definitely one-to-see. Try to the Entrepan de Morcilla - Blood sausage roll - with mustard and any/all of the Cavas. Note the store at the back of the bar for take-out. Don't expect any drinks on the menu accept for Cava!

You can’t even contemplate coming to Catalonia without sampling some Cava, and there’s no better spot than Can Paixano (aka La Xampañería). Be warned, though - with its hurried and harried staff and constant influx of thirsty clients, it’s not for the faint of heart. To make sure no-one literally faints, side orders of sandwiches and tapas are obligatory with your Cava, which is hardly a hardship.

It’s worth the jostling and yelling for Can Paixano’s mouth watering sandwiches and inexpensive pink cava (cava rosat). The sandwiches on the specials list are a good bet.

This place is an ultimate classic. Come here and have a tone of Cava. Loud, boisterous, and fun. A great night out!

This placa has rose cava and when I went there a few years ago you get a bottle if you order 2 tapas. It's a local spot and I recommend going there during the day.

Very typical bar in Barcelona. Great and cheap Cava and food. To buy a bottle you must buy 2 plates of food or 2 sandwiches (bocadillos). I recommend "butifarra con cebolla y queso" and the Cava Rosada! Enjoy!

Decoración clásica en un lugar estrecho que te hace sentir que estas más en una tienda de licores que en un sitio de tapas y bocadillos. Estaba todo muy bueno, el servicio era excepcional. Recomendado el bocadillo de lomo foie-gras y bacon.
