into an avant-garde style with class. Just like in the Gothic Quarter, where it’s situated, there is a lot to absorb in and around the hotel. Located in the Plaza Sant Felip Neri, you can’t help but be intrigued and delve into the vast amount of history and culture of which Barcelona is comprised. To enjoy it from a distance, there’s also an atrium terrace where you can see the Cathedral. The Neri restaurant offers regional Mediterranean food and really creates quite an authentic experience.

Situated on a quiet narrow alleyway right off one of the most impressive streets in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter – Carrer del Bisbe, stepping into Hotel Neri feels as if I'd come across a well-kept secret. Original old features such as bare brick walls and stone arches greeted me as I stepped into the lobby, softly lit by candles and furnished with comfy velvet chairs. Rooms are chic and relaxing, dressed in neutral colours and many come with private balconies or even private terraces. The hotel also offers a relaxing lounge bar and intimate restaurant set under old 12th century medieval arches, and looking out over one of Barcelona’s most charming squares – Plaza Sant Felip Neri. My favourite space was the roof terrace, covered in flowering vines and romantic spaces in which to enjoy a drink or hang out in a hammock. The only downside was construction of the building opposite, so if you plan on using your private balcony during the day, it may get a little noisy.

Getting into this place feels like magic. Hidden in a little road, next to a hidden square, just behind the Cathedral, the Neri Hotel is a great place to be in. With a restaurant, and a little Library room, this place is a very cool building that on a side faces the Filippo Neri Square, an insane spot for its structure (it is little square where you can arrive through 2 little ways). The lobby is cosy and if you have a chance to check the rooftop (open 24 hours) you will have a better idea of the vibe of this location. On the rooftop you have hammocks (and the rooms with a terrace have hammocks too) and chairs to enjoy the great view from the top, also you can call and you can get bar service up there. The whole place has been designed by Blanca Fontan, with a great sense of style and attention to details (in the rooms too you can literally feel her touch). In case you have some business going on they also have a little private room that you can use for conferences and small meetings.

Luxurious boutique hotel in a 13th century mansion deep in the Gothic Quarter - very atmospheric and hidden.

The hotel is situated on what, in my opinion, is the nicest square in Barcelona. This quiet plaza, in the heart of the historic Gothic Quarter, is also home to the baroque style church, Església de Sant Felip Neri, which is definitely worth a visit. The hotel is quaint and has a very pleasant outdoor terrace, which overlooks the square. The rooms are fully equipped and fortunately the wi-fi connection is free. The restaurant is decent, but don't forget to make a reservation, as it is often fully booked. At the Neri you’re located right behind Plaza Sant Jaume and three minutes away from Barcelona's Cathedral. I would definitely recommend this boutique hotel as it’s charming and elegant.

Walk into the Neri and you’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time. This is a gorgeous, boutique hotel in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, tucked away in Plaza Sant Felip Neri. The hotel combines medieval and contemporary designs, conveying an overall feel of authentic stylish elegance. Since it was constructed by joining together a medieval palace with a stone building partially destroyed during the civil war, you can really sense the history inherent in the hotel and even see remnants of the war for yourself while having a café in the plaza on their outdoor terrace (the plaza was bombed during the civil war where there used to be a school and evidence from bombs remains visible in the surrounding stone walls). If you want a room overlooking the square, ask for one that ends in 01 or 02, they all have views of the plaza.
