Catalonia and Montjuic Hill behind. Here you may be located a few metro stops away from the centre, but you’re in a prime location for visiting Montjuic, home to the Olympic buildings, the Joan Miró museum and an ancient castle, among many other fascinating attractions. With two different restaurants (Mediterranean and Japanese), a huge breakfast garden, spa and gym, as well as large comfy rooms, it has everything you could ask for. For me, its best feature was its giant roof terrace (with stunning views of course), featuring a large swimming pool, places for sunbathing and a bar. In summer there’s also live DJs and party-like atmosphere up here. This is a great place from which to watch the Magic Fountain display on in the evenings from Thursday to Sunday.

In a spectacular frame, this hotel stands high in front of Montjuic hill. From its window you will admire the great MNAC (Museum of National Art de Catalunia, it almost looks like a big church!) and on the rooftop the terrace is simply an amazing spot to admire the wonderful placa de Espanya. In addiction to this, the pool on top of it was absolutely inviting, and the sun chairs on a side are the best promise for the summer season. In the morning the breakfast is served in what they call "Garden" but it is actually a courtyard covered by a gorgeous tent structure. On the ground floor there is a piano too, where I guess a player entertains the crowd in the evenings. I also love the places where, as soon as you get in, you smell like flowers and clean, and I had this kind of moment walking inside.

Cutting a dominating figure over Plaça Espanya, the Catalonia Plaza Hotel is well-located for exploring Montjuic and all it's treasures, and on the metro line for quick access to other districts of the city centre. At the airport side of Barcelona, the airport bus passes the door every 15 minutes until late evening. Must sees in the area are Montjuic Castle, the Grec Amphitheatre and Gardens, the Joan Miro Gallery and the weekend light show at the "Magic Fountain". Don't be put off as you step away from the packed pavements and traffic of the Plaza into the large almost-as-busy lobby and bar area - upstairs it is much more tranquil. The guestrooms are lacking in style but have comfortable beds and furnishings, plenty of space and luckily no noise from the street below. But the rooftop pool was my favourite feature - good for cooling off after a day on the tourist trail.

Rooms are comfortable and well-appointed (big beds, comfortable chairs, desks, spacious bathrooms), but nothing too exciting when it comes to design. Even so, first-time and repeat visitors to Barcelona will love being located so close to Montjuic, Plaça Espanya and Arenas Shopping Center (there’s nothing like Shopping in a historic bull-fighting ring).. From superior rooms, you can see Montjuic Palace. If you’re in your room at just the right time of evening Thursdays through Sundays, you’d catch the magic fountain show without the crowds, or even better, the fireworks the shoot off during La Mercé, Barcelona’s most important festival in celebration of the city’s patron saint . Even if you don’t spring for a room with a view, you can take a dip in the pool and take in views of Montjuic from above from the hotel’s rooftop terrace.

We got to this hotel by chance. we had reservation to a different hotel in the same brand and they had a problem and could put us there. so they arrange this hotel instead(at a price of 50Eu a night). this is amazing hotel in the Placa the Espanya. you can walk almost everywhere by foot. no parking (even with payed parking).
