Spontaneous street performances occur often at the waterfront and incredible views of the skyline and harbor are enjoyed from the observation level of the World Trade Center. A stay at one of the Inner Harbor hotels offers easy access to all the Harbor attractions.

Baltimore is one of those cities where the water is the natural focal point. The Inner Harbor may be the best natural port in the world as it is tucked well inland from the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. The inner harbor is the setting for the nicest views of the city and the location of many of the best restaurants and fanciest hotels. Kids love it for the boats. You're also walking distance from Camden Yards, one of MLB's nicest and most intimate ballparks. It blows South Street Seaport completely out of the water.

A great spot for the evening to take your date or spouse to eat, drink, party, and then have a romantic walk around the water before retiring to one of the many hotels all in walking distance.

Visiting the harbor is a must for first timers and is always great to attend as a local. With the still calm waters and sunshine out, this place is perfect to walk around. It has one of the best aquariums in the world and great seafood all around.

Pretty but touristy. Good to go with a kid to the aquarium/submarine etc but go elsewhere for restaurants.

Local from Baltimore

The Baltimore Inner Harbor is, no doubt, a touristy area, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth a visit. When I find myself, somewhat rarely, down by the Inner Harbor, I most enjoy watching and listening to the street performers and musicians. You can occasionally catch Quinton Randall, Baltimore blues musician, plugged in behind Hard Rock Cafe. Also, the paddle boats that look like dragons are pretty fun for a little while, although you can't really take them out too far into the harbor. The shops and food is generally over priced, but the people watching is free and entertaining.

When I was a student at Johns Hopkins University, there wasn't a lot of options in places to go, but the Inner Harbor was definitely a top destination. With bars, restaurants and shopping as well as the closest thing to a "nightlife" that Baltimore has the Inner Harbor is a safe bet if you're an out of town tourist.

One of the best places to take a stroll in Baltimore, enjoy panoramic waterfront views, and shop in between watching the harbor activity. The harbor is also filled with some of Baltimore's best attractions: the USS Constellation, Maryland Science Center, National Aquarium, etc.
