Why Go

Austin has such an eclectic and funky vibe, it just might take you by surprise. Besides being the place where Willie Nelson made a name for himself, president George W. Bush governed (the state capital is popular among tourists) and cyclist Lance Armstrong battled cancer, it's arguably the live music capital of the world. Visitors to Austin like to hit the bars and music clubs near the University, and this whole scene has its culmination every March with the South by Southwest Music Festival, where 1,400 bands participate. Hiking and biking are popular in the hills, and Barton Creek is always a good place to swim, tan, and enjoy the Texas scenery. Popular day trips outside Austin are to New Braunfels and historic Gruene, Texas. The food is ... Read more
consistently a highlight here, so try some of the smoked brisket or sausage at The Salt Lick in Driftwood before you head out of town.

Austin is an incredible city. Whatever your taste, Austin has it. It is extremely welcoming and friendly and has some of the best food in the country. Get yourself some live music and tacos ya'll you're in the capital of the Lone Star state now.

The only city worth going out of your way to visit if you're in Texas. The food is amazing and the surrounding sites are well worth it. I'd be thrilled to go back someday.

you can't not fall in love in this amazing city. The famous signs and T-shirt you see everywhere "Keep Austin weird" is so accurate when you think what is so great about Austin. This is not Texas! From the beautiful views, the outdoors, the live nightlife, the food scene and everything else that makes this place the perfect destination for everyone. Now they just need someone to take care of the weather issue and it is heaven on the earth.

Just stepping fresh outta zilker botanical gardens and I look up... What a sight to behold. Of course the picture does no justice to the unique and architecturally incredible high rises and towers, With their optical illusionary edges. An Austin skyline is surely something to behold while holding ones breath. And try walking in any direction from that vantage point and not find some brilliant design within the buildings.

A small town in a bigger city. Great skyline. My first visit to Austin was for business with a group of people and no car. The city definitely has some transportation issues, and with Uber and Lift kicked out of downtown, this can be a challenge. We used the buses and they were clean and reliable, just infrequent and only sparsely covered the city. Hotel prices seemed on a par with much larger cities, and although Austin is ranked as the 11th largest in the US, it feels like a much smaller city. Art and music are big draws and these come with the touristy trappings found in cities like New Orleans and Florida beach towns. Wide selection of restaurants and bars. Great festival and convention location and I'd return in a heartbeat!

I absolutely love Austin. It is my favorite city to visit in the U.S. there is countless activities and adventures waiting for you here. Its a fun and wacky town who's motto is "Keep Austin Weird" People here are very nice, and polite. Austin is the food truck capitol in Texas and maybe even the U.S.. West Austin is filled with family activities and natural attractions (Hamilton Pool, and caves), while East Austin is mostly for single young adults. This city offers great variety, and I highly recommend it.
