Why Go

Aruba has one of the highest visitor return rates of any island in the Caribbean, and its powdery pink sand beaches, turquoise blue waters and gabillions of activities just might have something to do with that. From gambling, gourmet dining and shopping to shipwreck diving, hiking and golfing, Aruba is a glitzy, active destination. Traveling in Aruba is easy, and has become extremely popular with East Coast residents. You can use US dollars, speak English to pretty much anyone, almost all hotels have wifi, and American fast food chains are everywhere (including a Hooters). The island is 19 miles long and five miles at its widest, and the public bus system is an excellent and interactive way for locals and tourists to get around.

A beautiful that provides amazing beaches and great cultural sights. The whole island is great to explore via car, so be sure to take in all of Aruba.

Aruba was a different vibe. I guess its more European / Dutch and a little mix of Caribbean feeling. A fun and relaxing 3 day weekend!

Touristy and fancy, for the most part, though no less charming. I love the Dutch influence.

Aruba is package vacation central. The center of tourism is Palm Beach which is stunning but crowded. A great place for families with something to appeal to everyone but it certainly isn't the place to escape it all and by noon you'll be bumping shoulders with other visitors in the water.

The north end of Palm Beach is a little more quiet and less developed (in relative terms) and better for couples. The low rise area in the south is more budget oriented and the middle section is where you will find most of the night life.

It is easy to see why Aruba has mass appeal, especially given the low cost frequent flights from the U.S. and numerous affordable mega chains.

A visit to Flying Fishbones Restaurant in Savaneta is a nice way to get away from the hoards and see a residential area. It is the most sophisticated and quaint place that we visited on the island. If you are looking for quiet, your best bet is to get up early while most people are still nursing their hangovers.

I went to Aruba before the big hurricane hit, so I don't know how and if the ecosystems have changed. But I remember it was really beautiful. The beach were so warm and clear, I could see my feet even when I was waist deep in the ocean. The sands were pink and soft, and there were lots of sea lives to see if you are snorkeling or skin diving. As a certified NAUI scuba diving, I decided to do a wreck dive and it didn't disappoint. I saw a sunken ship that was upside down from back in the war days, our dive master even found a bullet on the bottom! I brought with me a underwater camera that could withstand the 90ft pressure and took some great pics of the captain's cabin while upside down! There were also great food and entertainment, the humidity took some getting used to, but other than that it was a dream destination!

Beautiful island to visit if you want a relaxing, chill, vacation. Note: The food was a little a bit disappointing but the crystal clear blue ocean makes up for it!

Aruba is a good location for families to focus on sand and surf. A 15 minute or so ride from the cruise terminal, De Palm Island offers entertainment for parents and kids of all ages. Along with a water park for younger ones, there’s two coves for swimming and a popular snorkeling area with lifeguard. All the needed gear is included, so your suitcase can be lighter. Life vests are mandatory when snorkeling.

Beautiful island with gorgeous beaches and weather. I spent Christmas here a few years back and it was lovely. Dutch cultural elements and funky historical touches as well as truly gorgeous nature.

HOT weather almost all year round with a constant light and breezy wind that cools you off all day. Great for families and young people looking to get away. Also noticed a lot of the older/grandparent generation hanging out in the casinos. Would reccommend staying at the Ritz Carlton when it opens in July/August 2013.
