Antigua and Barbuda Holidays

These twin islands began life with an indigenous population of Arawak Indians, but years as a territory of Great Britain have created a very British island culture. Cricket is the most popular sport, and Christianity the dominant religion. Yet the grey skies of Old Blighty are a far cry from the clear waters, sun, and coral reefs of these islands. ... Read more
Antigua is by far the livelier, with celebrity vacation homes, resorts, and steel drum music making the scene, and St. John, the capital, is filled with marketplaces accented by the white stones of baroque St. John's Cathedral. Barbuda, former site of shipwrecks and scavengers, hosts Codrington Lagoon, and a frigatebird colony, full of red-breasted exotics that can’t walk or swim. In between snorkeling and sunbathing, be sure to try the native black pineapple, which ripens inside while the skins stays green. Just the opposite of what will happen to the tanning beachgoer, sure to be revitalized by a stay on Antigua and Barbuda.

Beautiful island with beaches all over, great hotels, restaurants and friendly locals. Crystal clear ice blue water to snorkel in. Do not miss the Shirley Heights weekend Reggae BBQ...epic!

Antigua is the perfect midwinter escape! In desperate need of sunshine and warm weather, I booked a direct flight from JFK to Antigua in the Eastern Caribbean. The island is lined with white-sand beaches. Turquoise water surrounds it. While the people who live here are friendly and welcoming. The island used to be under British control--from the cricket grounds to tea time to the mostly British tourists, this is still quite evident. Antigua is a place to which I'll definitely return, and next time I'll be sure to visit Barbuda, as well.

This is an island of beaches, great trade winds, low humidity and great temperatures - what more could you want. We came by a small sailing ship and this was a great place for snorkeling and just walking the beaches.

In January, Antigua Yacht Club hosts the ‘Round the Island Race’ and the Superyacht Challenge’ with a vibrant international crowd. Intimate, stylish and ultra-exclusive, Hermitage Bay is a secluded property camouflaged within lush wild hills and private golden beach. The it hotel for honeymooners and those seeking total privacy, features 25 cottage suites stretching 10 acres from cliff-side to beachfront. My sensational hilltop suite with Jacuzzi and infinity pool overlooks sweeping beach and piton views.

Truly beautiful, great beaches, quite pricey but worth it! Driving on left side of street was awesome.

Beautiful island especially the beaches. The bonus is all of them are open to public. You can go and visit any beach you like.

The people here are very warm and friendly. We found that as tourists, we were merely tolerated on some of the islands but we had a wonderful tour guide, Christopher, who gave us a "locals" tour of Antigua that made us add this to our "Return One Day" list.
