You are in for a thrill when you visit Haunted Mansion, an attraction at Anaheim, California's Disneyland. While previous guests say it may prove to be too intense for children under five, it is ... Read more
certainly one of the park's most popular destinations. More whimsical, than horrifying, be sure to enjoy the humorous headstones placed in the garden outside. Between October and December, a "Nightmare Before Christmas" display adds to the fun. During the ride, you will be whisked through the "ornate and ostentatious" mansion and pay chilling visits to ghosts and various other undead personalities.

Disney nostalgia nuts always fuss about the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay, but I think it's the greatest thing ever! Disneyland has been doing this for years and it's simply amazing. They take a classic attraction and transform it into something totally different, with a "Nightmare Before Christmas" theme. The idea is that Halloween and Christmas collide, and the result is fantastic. The park runs the attraction from Halloween time through the new year. Catch it if you can!

Each year, the highlight of the ride is the famous ballroom scene. During the overlay, there's a huge gingerbread house that changes every year. They even pipe in a gingerbread scent as you pass through! I don't want to spoil the attraction for those who've never experienced it, but it's really great. I get excited to go every Halloween.

Took my 3 year old on this ride last weekend and he loved it! Well mostly lol. I prefer it during Christmas but I still love singing Grim Grinning Ghosts

A great and spooky time for the whole family! The haunted mansion is a mist ride for first time Disney goers and a classic for members with annual passes. The lines can get pretty tough during tourist seasons but the wait is well worth it.

This is a classic ride at Disneyland. The only thing that is unfortunate is sometimes the ride will be stuck.

Apparently, the Death Certificates are an urban myth. BUT! Still a fun ride, especially with the Nightmare before Christmas overlay. Any florescent paint left over from the Roger Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh rides was well used here for the gifts from Sandy Claws. Any bloggers, take note: this is why you independently verify your facts.

A really fun and enjoyable for people of any age. All you do is kick back and take in the sights of all the different ghosts and ghouls haunting the halls of the old mansion. Best time to go is during Fantasmic because everyone is busy watching the show.

This is so much fun!! The decor is phenomenal and there are some really fun (and slightly scary) surprises from the get-go. Not good for small, nervous children, but great for anyone looking for a little spook!

One of the favorites - the line is always long, but it moves quickly because it's a high volume ride (there are numerous buggies going at once.) The whimsical haunts and special effects are fun to watch, and they deck it out in Nightmare Before Christmas style for the holidays.

Gogotip: Stay on the right hand track of the line when it splits. It's actually shorter!

Haunted Mansion is a great piece of history for Disneyland.

Sure it is old, a bit cheesy, etc. but the effects throughout are fantastic (especially considering how long ago).

The Doom Buggy is great, and I love the effects in the dining room the best.

I LOVE the Halloween/Christmas decorations!

One of the classic rides at Disneyland that has been updated.

The best time to ride this is at 30 minutes before the park closes... it's the most fun at this time.. No lines... less people and it's actually scary looking and your fun factor comes out more..

This is arguably my favorite ride at Disneyland. I still get excited when we are joined in our buggy by a ghostly guest, and have even had dreams about being at the table of the grand ballroom while the ghosts dance and fly around. Not to mention the fact that the Nightmare Before Christmas makeover is equally stunning, and fits perfectly with a Tim Burton universe. The lines are usually not oppressively long, and it's always cool inside!

5 Stars.

The Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride at Disneyland and I ride it multiple times on each visit. During the holidays, they convert it to use Jack Skeleton from The Nightmare Before Christmas, but I still like the classic version the best.

This is a MUST. I know I say that a lot, but this ride has stood the test of time and proven that NEW doesn't always equal BETTER. If you come around September through January, there will be a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay; I do enjoy the Haunted Mansion Holiday, although I much prefer the original ride.

If you do happen to come while the mansion is dressed for the holidays, take some pictures (without the flash, of course)! Everything is so bright and colorful!
