Good selection at a decent price considering it is right outside Disneyland. Staff were great

Jazz Kitchen is one of the better eatery options in the Downtown Disney area with nice, live jazz music in the day and night as well as some New Orlean dishes like jambalaya and beignets. A little more on the pricier side as most of the Downtown Disney options but still tasty.

After shopping at Downtown Disney, everyone in my group was starving. While the wifey was in a long line at Build A Bear, I snuck out and got a reservation at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen (RBJK). I was quoted an hour & fifteen minute wait time. As it turned out, it was just perfect. When my wife was done 45 minutes later, we headed to Brennan's , inquired at the hostess station about our table and got a table for 6 pronto.

Our table was right in front of the piano where Kirk Andres Wilson was performing Christmas songs. Let me say this, he is an awesome entertainer. He even played Itsy Bitsy Spider for my nephew who requested it. That got all the diners to sing along. Awesome moment. Needless to say it made my nephew & son's night. Lol.

To the food =)
Calamari - Delicious. Crunchy outside and tender inside. We got 2 dipping sauce. A mustard aioli and a marinara sauce. Both good, but I preferred the marinara sauce.

BBQ Shrimp & Grits - DELICIOUS! I loved this dish. My only critique would be the grits. It was more of a mash potato consistency, not the creamy version I prefer. But still really good.

Pasta Jambalaya was also good. The flavor was spot on. I really enjoyed the andouille sausage. Yum!

Pork Torchon - my sister in law's dish was a disappointment. It looked like a crab cake, but the flavors were not what we expected. The accompanying bread pudding was outstanding though.

The two kids shared a bowl of Mac N Cheese w/ Bacon & Chicken Tenders (special request order). The kid's did not like the dish. But the adults did. Hahaha. That is one of the best Mac n Cheese the parents have tasted lol.

Service was fantastic.
Price is high, but well worth it.

This was good dining experience for our family. The food was great, service was top notch and the entertainment all night long was fabulous!!

Hot fresh Beignets! Yes! They serve breakfast items, lunch and dinner. New Orleans platter, classic red beans and rice, popcorn shrimp, jambalaya. And more.

Food and decor evoke New Orleans. We enjoyed lively bar with Jazz Trio, then dined on patio. Amazing "Louisiana Pork Wings" (Pork Osso Bucco) starter melted in my mouth! Blackened Chicken Mac & Cheese entree and Bacon Pecan Green Beans side were outstanding. Plus beignets! Charming upstairs bar, dining, and balcony seating, too.

Almost like being in New Orleans. I recommend the etouffee. Jambalaya was good. A little more spicy than flavor but still good

Located adjacent to the main Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen table service restaurant in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District, this counter service spot serves up some great, quick options.

The Express location of Ralph Brennan’s offers the same New Orleans vintage vibe as the table service restaurant, but with no indoor seating. This is strictly an “order it to-go” kinda place, though there are several tables outside.

Behind the glass is actually an “on stage” area where employees are making beignets.

After you taste a beignet from here, you’re pretty much guaranteed to want to duplicate the magic at home (or at least try). For the adventurous, Cafe Du Monde Beignet Mix is sold here as well.

2015 OC Restaurant Week Review

Located right at the heart of Downtown Disney Ralph Brennans Jazz Kitchen is just a hop skip and a jump away from the Happiest Place on Earth. The line to get a seat at the restaurant also mimics that of the Magic Kingdom, but for good reason. The soulful jazz music and colorful plates attract patrons of all ages and the cajun flavors keep 'em coming back for more. I had the opportunity to sample a few of their creations during restaurant week and wow they definitely did not skimp on their portions! For $20 my boyfriend and I were given a feast.

Starters
Boudin Balls: Slow roasted cochon pork, dirty rice, Creole mustard aioli, Tabasco pepper jelly
-Absolutely delicious. These balls were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I loved it paired with the honey maple sauce.

Gumbo Ya-Ya: Chicken, Andouille sausage, dark roux, creole seasoning, rice
-I love gumbo and had visited New Orleans in the past. Unfortunately, this did not live up to the standard. I'd pass

Entrees
Ultimate Bayou Burger: Chicken burger stuffed with caramelized peppers, onions, Andouille sausage, asiago cheese and Creole spices topped with baby greens, Roma tomatoes, gulf shrimp remoulade
-On their main menu this is $17, so just getting this alone makes your restaurant week trip worthwhile. Not completely mind blowing, but It was satisfactory.

Blackened Chicken Mac & Cheese: Applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onions, oven roasted tomatoes, baby arugula, rosemary garlic ciabatta bread
-Very tasty, but extremely heavy. It's also served with penne pasta instead of elbow.

Desserts
Beignets: A New Orleans classic! French donuts topped with powdered sugar
-Definitely the highlight of the meal. If you're going to do French American you definitely need to do this!

New Orleans Bread Pudding: The queen of Crescent City desserts...rich in cream, eggs, sugar, raisins & creme anglaise
-A nice serving of carbs

Summary
Overall, the restaurant week value exceeded my expectations. We were given ample food and the restaurant environment was charming. I'd definitely come here with a group of friends to enjoy an appetizer or dessert. It's a festive place to dine and I can see myself celebrating a milestone here (ie. birthday, bachorelette, etc).

We had revise for this place, and were seated at the table dead center of the stage. With one end of our table touching the jazz stage.

The music was wonderful, and the appetizers were good, including the Southern Garlic Cheese Bread.

However, I had the Lemon Chicken Pasta, which was pretty terrible. The cheese tortellini was undercooked. The sausage and chicken and tortellini was an odd combination. Not a fan. I split this and another dish with someone else, and we didn't even finish the Lemon Chicken Pasta. The other dish was the Smothered New York Steak. This dish was definitely an improvement, but didn't win me over. Also had the opportunity to taste Jalapeño Cornbread Crusted Salmon. This probably was the best of the three dishes.

For dessert we all shared the New Orleans Bread Pudding and and order of Beignets. The beignets were delicious, especially paired with the chocolate ganache and caramel sauce from the bread pudding.

Overall, I turned off by the disappointing Lemon Chicken Pasta, and am not enthusiastic to return. However, I will give them a second chance if friends want to go in future.

Hard to give a higher rating than 3 stars due to my long standing relationship with NOLA restaurants. I certainly would not turn down the opportunity to eat there if in the area, particularly compared to the other restaurants in Downtown Disney. That being said it can satisfy an itch, but if you want elite cajun eating then its not the spot.

Jazz Kitchen Express is the fast food eatery of Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen next door. It serves popular foods from New Orleans. This includes coffee and beignets from Café du Monde.

I don't know about the food here. It seems like most people come here for the beignets. The beignets are made fresh as you can see the staff making them. Beignets come in 3 different sizes of 4, 6 or 10 beignets. They are pretty reasonably priced given this eatery is in an amusement park. The beignets are more or less equivalent to the price of a donut elsewhere.

The freshly made beignets here are indeed tasty. The powdered sugar on top is nice. I think if they wanted to make it more indulgent, they should think about including a sweet cream dipping sauce.

If you are at Downtown Disney, the beignets at Jazz Kitchen Express are worth a try for an after meal dessert. Though I can't vouch for the food here.

My friends had their joint bachelor/bachelorette dinners at the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. We had a reservation for 12 at 7 pm and were running late but managed to contact them to let them know. They agreed to push our reservation half an hour later. As soon as we were seated, our waitress asked if we were celebrating anything and of course we pointed at the engaged couple. I was wearing my Disney birthday pin and she wished me a happy birthday. We started ordering waters for the table and she mentioned that the drink of the day was a Huckleberry vodka lemonade ($11) which sounded amazing. We ordered a few of those for our table. Then we perused the menus while our drink order was put in. We started taking some photos and having conversations. By the time we had gotten our drinks our waitress had disappeared. Mind you, we were taking pictures here and there to fill the time but we were hungry. She returned to take our orders and said that she didn't want to disturb us earlier which is why we didn't see her for a while. Uh ok. Next time just disturb us because it's meal time and we were starved!

We put in our orders and waited. It seemed an eternity because we weren't served food til close to 9 pm. Mind you, we were in there shortly before 7:30 and ordered at 8 pm. Most of us opted to do just entrees instead of appetizers. Some of the group ordered just appetizers to arrive at the same time as the table's entrees. For the one lonely soup that arrived, we told the recipient to just eat it but he tried to be polite and hold off. Finally after much delay, our entrees arrived. I ordered the BBQ shrimp and grits. I was so hungry, I devoured the entire thing, aside from a lump of grits. It definitely hit the spot and my cousin and I split the chocolate souffle. If it's your birthday, they automatically bring you a small dessert with candle. This time they brought out 2 beignets with a candle. It was great but I had a souffle, so I passed around my beignets to the others at the table. Our server kept checking our table and refilling waters. She checked on our orders as well but if the kitchen is backed up, there's nothing to be done but wait. I understand that and they were really nice about it. The bill came out and we tried to split it as best we could but when it came down to it, our server went one step further and split up our checks accordingly. She also mentioned that they no longer add gratuity to the bill for large groups and to please tip as we see fit. Excellent. Great meal with old & new friends. Service was pretty good. Reservations are recommended.

One of our favorite restaurants in downtown Disney, I never have a bad time here. Food is delicious, service is great. Husband always gets the medallions of beef over crawfish mashed potatoes. The salmon was delicious, very fresh and perfectly cooked. Save room for table side bananas foster!

This place was crowded on a Saturday Night... service was slow at the bar. We ordered Grilled Medallions of Beef with Crawfish Mashed Potatoes (my favorite) and the Catch of the day.. the food was a little salty for my taste but still pretty good.

This review is only for the dessert, but like every restaurant @ DTD, over priced bad food~

The waiter told me to have their bread pudding because it's what they're known for and it's the best. Well, I tasted it, it's actually one of the worst I had~ I thought bread pudding was suppose to be hot? It came out cold, and the sauce had no sweetness at all. Blah, would definitely not come back here again!

This is our go-to spot for desert in Downtown Disney. The actual restaurant has some great live music if you're in the mood for dueling pianos, but I've yet to actually eat there, stopping only in for a few minutes to catch a whiff of melody as I breeze through DD.

The Jazz Kitchen express, however, is a solid choice for beignets, and I might add, their bread pudding. Both are decadent and glorious in their own ways, especially if you enjoy a literal mountain of white powder along with your deserts.

In a visual regard I'm not quite transported to the New Orleans like I am when I'm in New Orleans Square in DL, but in a taste regard I can almost detect subtle hints of jazz as I bite into the warm beignet crusts, like a slight alto sax wafting from the inside of my food. Yum.

The first time I ate here I had one of the best meals ever! I had the catfish yum yum. But I ate here again and got chicken and it tasted as if they accidentally poured a whole salt shaker in. We had to return our food and I usually don't like to do that. The 3rd time I got their jambalaya and it was good but not impressive. Very confusing this place is. I haven't been there in a while and would try it again. I hope they get it right.

Their restaurant is nice, though. I like their jeweled piano and I like sitting on their balcony.

Wow, the garlic bread was awesome. Then top it with sangria, drinks, and amazing entrees. It's a great date night. Medallions were a little salty. Salmon was perfect. Awesome soufflé too. Must order that!! Enjoy!!

Great restaurant, albeit pricey. If you love New Orleans like I do, this is a worthy option for dinner. It is, after all, run by the family-run restaurant dynasty that invented the Bananas Foster. And this dessert is available here, where waiters set a pan of sweets in flames right by your table.

Delicious food here. The wait is also pretty decent for a Downtown Disney restaurant. Ambiance is great... feels like you are in the bayou. Food tastes good and for what it is it is reasonable (though on the expensive side). I'd rather eat here for a few dollars more than some place like Tortilla Jo's or Rainforest Cafe.
