Very nice hotel, smaller rooms than Renaissance in Paris. Very helpful staff, Awsome elite card holder lounge in the chain. It is located within a quick walk to all sites and tram system. I recommend this hotel to any one coming to Amsterdam.

Snuggled between the old medieval Amsterdam and plenty of newer buildings The Renaissance is located in one of the more charming and quiet streets in the very busy city centre. When you first walk into the Renaissance it may feel like a large hotel that could be found in any other city but you slowly start to appreciate its small quirks and helpful amenities. For instance the club-lounge is a nice treat if you need to chill out after a long day and there’s even a small gym. The hotel is split between an older building a newer renovated one. The new rooms are slightly bigger with more room for luggage if you are travelling as a couple - otherwise the standard rooms on the older wing would be adequate for a single with an overnight bag. The hotel services big business groups and coach tours but like I said, it’s a gem location wise. Damrak market is very near, so is Central Station and multiple fab restaurants along the city’s famous canals.

The staff are wonderful, friendly, and extremely helpful. The location also can't be beat. It's in walking distance from Centraal Station, and much of the city centre. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but there are many affordable places close by, and a grocery store if you wish to purchase food for making pack lunches.

The Renaissance hotel makes any journey feel like a breeze, with their attentive staff and impeccable maintenance. Walk through revolving doors to a pristine lobby, and a blazing fireplace greets you from behind a sleek and modern interior design. The flower arrangements, orchids, placed throughout the ground floor add a freshness to the atmosphere that complements the cozy and colorful lounge. Meeting rooms are located in the main building, but the hotel’s most impressive events space is the Koepelkerk, a small and gorgeous 17th century chapel, just across the street from the main entrance. Also located on the outside but forming part of the hotel is the Koepelcafe: you can either sit inside and enjoy a traditional dutch bar environment, or make the most of the outside seating once the weather clears and the sun begins to shine. The hotel rooms are minimal, but with very soft bedding materials and more pillows than you could need.

While unassuming and rather understated, the Renaissance Hotel can surprise you. With an unbeatable location near Central Station, yet off the crowded thoroughfares, it offers a simple and relaxing stay in Amsterdam. One particular bonus point for me was the fitness center: huge, open 24 hours, and all for free for guests! It was like a 24 Hour Fitness Center (the American franchise) in itself. The lobby lounge is cozy and romantic, and big enough to allow you privacy - even during the busy cocktail hour. The main restaurant, Scossa, serves authentic Mediterranean food - or in good weather, sit outside in the Koepelcafe for a traditional Amsterdam cafe experience: relaxed atmosphere, good food and drinks, and no shortage of people- watching. Two tips: 1) Ask for a room in the back of the hotel to avoid street noise at night. 2) Ask for an upgrade to a Club Room: the upgrade is the same cost as adding Internet and breakfast surcharges to a standard room reservation, and with a Club Room you get these services free, a bigger room, plus endless free drinks in the Club lounge! You can't lose.

Very nice hotel, without it being special...or indeed memorable. Good location but would probably only return if they had rooms at a special rate, as there are better hotels near by.

Good, clean rooms. Decent access to the sites, yet not in the middle of the fray -- which was one of the reasons I chose it.
