Hotel Casa Amsterdam is a really nice place to stay. Very clean with big bedrooms and bathrooms. Downstairs bar and kitchen is awesome. They also have a counter to buy treats and coffee. Only thing is it’s a bit far from the center of town but transportation is just a few minutes walk away. Or you can walk by the canals around 20 minutes to get closer to central Amsterdam.

Local from Amsterdam

Yes, the Hotel Casa 400 is situated a while away from the city centre but the building (renovated in 2009) overlooks a pretty canal and you can easily get to wherever you need via a public transport station just five minutes away. The hotel conveniently sells train and tram passes at reception and there are three metro lines from the centre to the nearby station and the tram goes to Museumplein. Rooms are spotless and functional with a modern vibe. There is surprisingly little noise from the canal/street facing room and the bathroom is notably spacious. The neighbourhood may feel like a corporate area but the friendly service and the warm atmosphere at the eatery downstairs makes you feel at home - and just down the road you’ll see very cute little Dutch homes and gardens. It’s also nice to know the cafe uses local produce from nearby farmers and sells organic goods and the coffee is lovely!

The Hotel Casa 400 is a great find. It is located right next to the Amstel station, south to the city center. Being so close to the station means that you can easily catch a metro ride into more centric areas (or a tram ride). The hotel itself is very practical, ideal for business travelers, but with enough design and styling to keep it from resembling a more ‘stuffy’ businesses oriented hotel. So, I would also recommend this hotel as the ideal accommodation for regular Amsterdam visitors as well. The single rooms are pleasantly spacious, and immaculately clean and tidy. The services provided include free wifi and a private car park, plus access to the next door sports center (for a small daily fee). Also, the hotel has its own wine bar and ‘coffee corner’, with great selections that would please both wine and coffee connoisseurs. Last but definitely not least, their restaurant East57 has a delicious internationally inspired menu, and given the high quality of the food and service it is very reasonably priced!

San Diego

Minimalistic and modern in design, but tasteful enough for nearly anyone's needs. It has its own parking garage on site (rare in this city), which is a helpful feature. The rooms have an empty mini-fridge, very useful since breakfast is a bit pricey, and there's a supermarket just around the corner. Another cool feature is the heated mirror! No fogging up after a shower. ;) In lieu of a desk, there's a long counter table beneath the window, which means plenty of working space and convenient storage for your things. You do, however, have to request a hair dryer from the front desk, which is a bit inconvenient. The public areas are spread out everywhere - from the expansive lobby lounge to the upstairs cafe with funky chairs and tables where you can work undisturbed or socialize with your fellow travelers. And the laptop lounge is simply perfect for getting work done: your own chair and table, complimentary endless coffee, tea, and crumpets, and copying/printing facilities. The hotel is very business-oriented, but even for the pleasure traveler, the remote location isn't a big problem. The Amstel Metro station is just around the corner, which will take you anywhere in Amsterdam.
