The fastest train from Manchester to Liverpool takes around 50 minutes with stops at Manchester Oxford Road, Birchwood and Warrington Central. The slowest train takes around 1 hour and 25 minutes and calls in at a lot of local stations including Trafford Park, Widnes and Liverpool South Parkway.
You can get trains to Liverpool from Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly train stations. Both services are operated by Northern.
