Terminal Information – Departing
Newquay Airport has one terminal. There's not much in the way of shops or restaurants, although there are two Coffee Republics and an outdoor terrace before security where you can soak up a bit of sunshine before your flight (weather permitting). In the departure lounge there's a small Destination Cornwall souvenir shop. Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport if you want to get a little bit of work done before boarding your flight to London. For a bit of added luxury, you can book into The Lounge. It costs £10* to enter, and once inside you'll be treated to complementary snacks and drinks.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Flybe flights land at London-Gatwick's South terminal. This is the most convenient place to land as the train station is located in this terminal. The fastest way to reach the city centre is via the Gatwick Express, which is non-stop between the airport and Victoria train station and takes 30 minutes. Local trains are also available via Thameslink and Southern. Local buses also run between the airport and the city, as do National Express and easyBus services. These are often cheaper than catching the train but do take a little longer due to city centre traffic. If you want the freedom to explore London at your own leisure you might want to consider car hire at Gatwick airport.
London-Stansted only has one terminal. There's plenty of public transport into London and the surrounding areas, or you can check out our deals on car hire from Stansted airport if you prefer to have your own mode of transport. The Stansted Express train is the fastest way to reach the city centre. It takes 47 minutes to reach Liverpool Street from the airport. There are also National Express and easyBus services between the airport and the city. There are also some local bus routes which offer a less direct route into London.
You don't need your passport if you're flying within the UK. Airport staff will want to see some form of photographic ID, such as a driving license, before allowing you to board the plane. It's best to pre-book your coach tickets or the Gatwick Express as it often works out cheaper.
What to expect in London
London can be very expensive. If you visit London a lot or are planning to travel outside of Zone 1 it's worth buying an Oyster card. These cost £5, cap your transport costs, and save you from spending too much time at the ticket machines. If you don't want to keep your Oyster card for future use, you can return it and get your £5 back.
