Miami International Airport

Miami International Airport is located eight miles northwest of Miami city centre. The airport has three terminals, North, Central and South. Qatar, Thomas Cook Airlines and Virgin Atlantic all arrive to the North-D terminal, and Delta and Lufthansa flights arrive to the South-J terminal.

Arrivals to the North Terminal D enter the terminal on the first floor. Just outside, you’ll find taxis and SuperShuttle vans. Up on the third floor, you can catch the Skyride shuttle which takes you between terminals and car parks. The third floor is also home to the MIA Mover Station from which you can access the Rental Car Center and bus and rail services.

Arrivals to the South Terminal J enter the terminal on the 3rd floor. As with the North Terminal, ground transportation is located on the first level and both Skyride and MIA Mover Station on the third floor.

Both terminals also offer a currency exchange, pay as you go Wi-Fi, cash machines, tourist information desks and a variety of food and shopping outlets.

Miami Airport’s Car Rental Center is located a short MIA Mover shuttle ride from the airport terminals. At the car hire centre you’ll find a variety of companies including Advantage, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Firefly, National, Payless and Sixt. The MIA Mover also transports passengers to Central Station, where it’s possible to take a bus or train into the city centre.

If you choose to take a taxi or shuttle van from the airport into the city centre, the airport advises passengers to book at official Taxi and Shuttle stands located outside both terminals.

Practical Information

British nationals don’t need a visa for visits to the US of up to 90 days. This because of a Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) currently in place. If you are planning to travel under the VWP, you need to make an online declaration of your travel plans through the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA). You’ll need to do this at least 72 hours before you travel and will need to enter details about your flight and accommodation for your first night in the US.
