Condor, easyJet, Thomas Cook Airlines and Jet2 all depart from Terminal 1. Enter Air, Small Planet, Thomson Airways and Germania fly from Terminal 2. Ryanair flies from Terminal 3.
Terminal 1 is Manchester's shiny new terminal. There are plenty of shops to keep you occupied, as well as a wealth of dining and drinking options. You can relax with tapas and cocktails at Bar MCR or settle in a booth at the Grain Loft. Plug in your iPod and enjoy pouring your own beer. Terminal 2 is a smaller terminal. The shop selection is functional, with a duty free store, a WHSmith, a Boots and a Dixon's Travel. Terminal 3 is similar. There's an Upper Crust sandwich shop if you're peckish, a Trattoria Milano if you're hungry, and two coffee shops if you're on the red-eye. Manchester Airport offers one hour of free Wi-Fi for every passenger. Each terminal has an Escape Lounge, with prices starting at £19.99* per person. Inside you can enjoy unlimited internet access, comfy seats and a selection of complimentary snacks and drinks. The lounges often book up early, so reserve your place in advance.
Terminal Information – Arriving
At Heraklion Airport: there's a taxi rank just outside the terminal, and a bus stop where you can find public transport to Heraklion bus station. Many people choose to organise private transfers to their accommodation, and some hotels will organise this for you. Most major car hire companies have a base at the airport: remember to compare car hire at Crete-Heraklion Airport if you're planning to rent a car during your trip.
At Chania Airport: Buses run between the airport and Chania every two hours, with a journey time of half an hour. Taxis, car hire and privately organised transfers are a popular option. If you're visiting during the summer high-season it's prudent to pre-book.
You need a valid passport to fly to Crete from Manchester. British citizens don't need a visa, but if you're planning to stay for longer than three months you will need to apply for a residency permit. For international flights we recommend arriving at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure.
