Easyjet and Aegean Airlines operate direct flights from Manchester to Athens International Airport.
You will need to arrive at Manchester Airport 2 hours before your flight. There are 3 terminals and both EasyJet and Aegean Airlines flights depart from Terminal 1 at Manchester Airport. If you are travelling to Manchester Airport by train you will have a 5 minute walk along moving walkways from the station to the terminal building.
When checking in to your Aegean Airlines flight to Athens you have a number of options available to you: the staffed or self-service desks at the airport, online or using your mobile. Online and mobile app check in are the only options for Easyjet flights. Bag drop desks are located in the check in halls for those who have check in online and have hold luggage.
The Terminal 1 departures lounge is the best for shopping at the airport with shops such as Next, WH Smith, Pandora, Clarins, Timberland and Bobbi Brown. Manchester Airport has a shopping bag allowance so as well as your hand luggage you can take a standard carrier bag from the airport’s shops on board with you. If you’ve purchased something too big for the flight you can use the collect on return service.

Athens International Airport
There are two terminals at Athens Airport and both use the same arrivals area. Athens International Airport is 44km away from Athens so planning your onward travel in advance is recommended.
Athens Airport Railway Station is connected to the airport via a walkway with both train and Metro (Line 3) services into Athens. Services are available every 30 minutes and the journey will take 40 minutes. Buses depart from the bus station in front of the arrivals exit, these go to Athens, Piraeus Port and surrounding towns and beaches in the region. Tickets can be purchased from the machines outside of the terminal or from the bus operator.
Enterprise, Avis, Budget, Hertz and Sixt all offer car hire from Athens Airport with the desks located in the Arrivals Hall. Driving to Athens will take around 35 minutes.
What to expect in Athens
Athens is slightly cheaper than Manchester, when it comes to eating out you should head to the restaurants which serve the locals to get authentic, great value Greek food. A souvlaki sandwich is a traditional fast food snack costs around €3, a dinner with wine will be around €30.
