Terminal Information – Arriving
Budapest Airport only has one terminal, which is confusingly called terminal 2. You can reach the city by bus, taxi or rental car: all of which are signposted in the arrivals hall. Bus 200E connects the airport to Ferihegy train station and Kobanya-Kispest metro station. Bus tickets cost HUF 350* (about 85p) if you buy them from the ticket-machine or the newsagent, and are HUF 450* (just over £1.10) if you buy on-board. Metered taxis are available from outside the airport, and can cost anywhere from HUF 5,000* (about £12.50) to HUF 10,000* (just under £25). Car hire at Budapest Airport is also available: you can compare prices and find the best deals with Skyscanner.
You need a valid passport to fly to Budapest from Liverpool. We recommend arriving at the airport about 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart.
What to expect in Budapest
Budapest is one hour ahead of Liverpool. The currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF). Budapest is often touted as one of Europe's coolest cities, but it's also one of its cheapest. You can enjoy a romantic three-course meal for less than £20* and a pint of beer for less than £1*. The climate in Budapest is very extreme compared to Liverpool's. During the summer you can expect lovely warm temperatures of 21°C and up, while winter is absolutely freezing (the average temperature in January is -1°C).
