Terminal Information

Liverpool John Lennon Airport

There is just one terminal at Liverpool Airport. The airport advises passengers to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled flight departure time. Check in for Flybe and Easyjet flights can be completed at the airport or online, Easyjet also have an app for mobile check in which will store your boarding pass on your phone.

The airport allows passengers to pre-book a parking space at the airport and to pre-book travel money too. There are internet kiosks with printing facilities for anyone who has checked-in online but forgotten their printed boarding pass. Wi-Fi, free of charge for the first hour, is also available throughout the airport building.

If you want to speed your journey through security to the departures lounge, you can buy a Fast Track pass. These are available for £3.50 when purchased in advance online or for £5.00 when bought on the day. A pass allows you to bypass the queues at security and reduce your waiting time.

Once you’re through to the departures lounge, you’ll find a selection of shopping, food and drink outlets. There’s Boots and WHSmith for stocking up on travel essentials, a duty free store for little luxuries and Heidi & Pearl salon where you can be pampered in preparation for your journey. Food and drink options are also plentiful and passengers can choose between Frankie & Benny’s, a Wetherspoon pub, Starbucks, Burger King and the Kissing Gate, which has its own designated smoking area.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is located 9 kilometres southwest of Amsterdam city centre. There is just one terminal at the airport. Arrivals are divided into four separate areas which lead into the same central hall. The arrivals hall is home to cash machines, internet kiosks, bars, cafés and shops.

If you’re choosing to hire a car from Amsterdam Airport, you’ll find car hire offices located behind the Arrivals 3 area. There’s Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, Europcar and National to choose from.

Other transportation options from the airport include buses and trains which go from the airport right into the city centre. The 197 Airport Express shuttle bus is the most straightforward bus route into the city centre. It leaves from platform B9 every 15 minutes and stops at a number of city centre locations. The train is another easy option for getting to the centre. Trains to Amsterdam Central leave the airport station (downstairs from the arrivals hall) and reach the centre in just 15 minutes. You can buy tickets at yellow self-service kiosks in the rail station.

What to Expect in Amsterdam

Amsterdam has mild weather all year round. Temperatures in the summer can reach up to 20°c and rarely drop below freezing in the winter. There’s quite a lot of rain throughout the year so be sure to take an umbrella or raincoat with you.

Prices in Amsterdam are more or less similar to those of Liverpool. If you’re eating out, you can expect to pay around €60.00 for a mid-range meal for two and €4.00 for a bottle of beer, which is a little more than in Liverpool. If you’re travelling around the city, you’ll find that public transport is a little cheaper than in Liverpool but travelling by taxi will prove more expensive.
