Airlines that fly from London to Tel Aviv

El Al, easyJet and Monarch Airlines fly from London-Luton, British Airways and El Al fly to Tel Aviv from London-Heathrow, and easyJet fly to Tel-Aviv from London-Gatwick. All flights from London to Tel Aviv land at Ben Gurion Airport.

Terminal Information – Departing

This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.

From Gatwick: easyJet fly to Tel Aviv from the North Terminal. If you're arriving at the airport by train you will need to take the free inter-terminal shuttle to reach the appropriate check-in desks and security area. The departure lounge has an excellent range of shops, restaurants and lounges.

From Heathrow: British Airways fly from Terminal 5 and El Al fly from Terminal 4. Both of these terminals have dedicated stops on the underground and overground. Before boarding a train make sure it stops at the terminal you're going to. Terminal 4 and 5 are both renowned for their designer shops and high-end restaurants, particularly Terminal 5 which has a Gordon Ramsay outpost.

From Luton: Luton Airport has one terminal. There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or indulge in tax free shopping. The executive lounge has recently been refurbished, and can be found upstairs with an excellent view across the main departure lounge.

Terminal Information – Arriving

easyJet flights land at Terminal 1, while the other airlines land at Terminal 3. The airport's train station is below the arrivals hall in Terminal 3. One-way train tickets to the city centre are ₪16* (about £2.85). You can buy them from the cashier or from a machine. Trains depart twice an hour. A taxi from the airport into the city centre will set you back around ₪140-175* (about £25-£31). Car hire at Tel Aviv-Ben Gurion Airport is available through Isralimo, Avis, Shlomo, and Sixt.

Practical Information

You need a valid passport to fly to Tel Aviv from London. Your passport should be valid for at least six months following your entry date. Tourists don't need a visa to enter Israel for up to three months. If you're planning to work in Israel, or have any visa concerns, get in touch with the Israeli Embassy. We recommend arriving at the airport at least two hours before your flight is scheduled to depart.

What to expect in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is two hours ahead of London and the currency is the Israeli New Shekel (₪). In some cases Tel Aviv is cheaper than London, but in others it's more expensive. For example, alcoholic drinks are pricier while meals are cheaper. The weather in Tel Aviv is warmer than London, with an average temperature of 26°C during July and 13°C during January.
