Terminal Information – Departing

Flight to Hyderabad depart from Heathrow’s Terminal 5. Here, hungry flyers can choose from a selection of restaurants that range from cheap and cheerful pub The Crown Rivers (Wetherspoon) to the rather fancy Fortnum & Mason Champagne Bar. Gordon Ramsey also has a travel-themed restaurant here called ‘Plane Food’. Free WiFi is available throughout the terminal allowing you to keep up-to-date with work emails, check in on Facebook, and research your upcoming trip to Hyderabad. Terminal Information – Arriving

Hyderabad's new Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is situated just over 13 miles from Hyderabad's city centre. Metered taxis are available from outside the airport. Look out for either ‘Skycabs’ or ‘Meru’ taxis: both companies have been approved by the airport. Females travelling alone can take advantage of the police-operated ‘SHE’ taxi service which provides female-driven taxis that have police GPS tracking installed in the vehicles. Air-conditioned buses are also available and run every 30 minutes between 3:30AM and 11PM. Outside of these hours, buses run every hour. Car hire at Hyderabad Airport is another alternative, although for first-time travellers to India a taxi or bus is the least stressful option.

 

Practical Information

As this is an international flight, you should arrive at London Heathrow at least 2-3 hours before your flight to Hyderabad is due to depart. You will need a valid machine-readable passport with at least 2 blank pages for your visa. The passport must be valid for a minimum of 180 days at the time of your visa application. Most foreign travellers will need a visa to enter India however most British citizens can now do this online and in advance through India’s e-Tourist Visa program.

 

What to expect in Hyderabad

Naturally, Hyderabad is considerably warmer than London. January temperatures average 30 °C compared to 7 °C in London.
