Airlines that fly from London to Crete
Thomas Cook Airlines, British Airways, Aegean Airlines, Easyjet, Ryanair and Thomson Airways all offer direct flights from London to Crete Airports.
Thomas Cook Airlines, Easyjet, British Airways and Aegean Airlines all fly from London Gatwick Airport to Heraklion Airport, Crete. Easyjet also fly from London Luton Airport. Thomson Airways fly from Stansted to Heraklion Airport and Ryanair fly from Stansted to Crete Chania Airport.
Thomas Cook Airlines, British Airways, Aegean Airlines and Thomson Airways passengers can check in for their flight online or at the airport check in desks. Online check in is recommended where possible. Easyjet and Ryanair check in is limited to online or the mobile app, there are no check in desks available at the airport.
London Gatwick Airport
Gatwick Airport has two terminals; a free shuttle service runs between the two terminals taking approximately 2 minutes. Gatwick Airport recommends that passengers on European flights arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before their flight. British Airways flights from Gatwick Airport depart from the North Terminal. The shops and places to eat at the North Terminal feature Harrods, WH Smith, M&S Simply Food, Ray Ban, Eat, Garfunkels Restaurant and Yo! Sushi.
If you are flying with Easyjet, Aegean Airlines or Thomas Cook you will be departing from the South Terminal at Gatwick Airport. You can spend the time before your flight relaxing in the premium lounges, browsing the great selection of shops available or grabbing a bite to eat. Some of the popular brands you will find in the South Terminal departures lounge are Hugo Boss, Superdry, Zara, Nandos, Girafee and Wonderstreet.

You should arrive at Stansted Airport at least 2 hours before your flight to Crete. If you have checked in online you can take your hold luggage to the bag drop desks then go through security checks. FastTrack security passes are available giving you access to a priorty security lane, avoiding any queues. Shops at Stansted Airport include Boots, Hamleys, JD Sports, World Duty Free and Next, and thanks to the Additional Bag Allowance in operation you can take a standard airport shopping bag on board with you alongside your hand luggage.

Luton Airport has one terminal and departures lounge, some of the gates can be up to 15 minutes away from the main departures lounge so you should bear this in mind when planning your trip. Shops, cafés and restaurants at Luton Airport feature Boots, Sunglass Hut, Hotel Chocolate, Aelia Duty Free, Krispy Kreme, Est Bar and Wasabi.

Heraklion Airport is Crete’s main airport and is located 5km from the centre of Heraklion on the northern coast of the island.
There are regular bus services from Heraklion Airport to Heraklion throughout the day. If you’re travelling beyond Heraklion to destinations such as Malia or Stalis then car hire and taxis which are both available from the airport may be more convenient. A typical taxi fare from Heraklion to Malia will be around €45 and take 40 minutes.
Ryanair flights arrive at Crete Chania Airport which is 14km from Chania on the north east of Crete.
Onward travel from Chania Airport is limited to a small number of bus services, taxis and car hire, due to the limited options you should plan your transfer in advance where possible. There is one bus service from the airport to Chania, with 7 departures daily between 5.45am and 8.30pm, a journey takes around 30 minutes.
Car hire desks for Europcar, Hertz and Kappa are located in the arrivals halls and taxis depart from outside of the terminal.
