Terminal Information – Departing

This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.

From Gatwick: easyJet fly to Bologna from the North Terminal. If you take the train to the airport you will need to take the inter-terminal shuttle before going through security. The North Terminal at Gatwick has a huge range of places to eat and drink, including three Jamie Oliver properties. There are plenty of great shops on the lower level of the terminal. Give yourself plenty of time to reach the gate: some of them are quite a hike from the main shopping and eating area.

From Heathrow: British Airways fly to Bologna from Terminal 5. T5 has its own dedicated tube and train stops, so double-check your boarding card before hopping on public transport. Posh shops and restaurants dominate Terminal 5, and the business lounges in this section of the airport are pretty high-end too. Don't miss the opportunity to eat at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant, Plane Food.

From Stansted: Stansted Airport only has one terminal. Shopping options include World Duty Free, The Body Shop and Hamleys. There's a champagne bar to toast your holiday, an Itsu if you fancy some takeaway sushi for the 'plane, and a good range of restaurants. Not to be outdone, Stansted has its own celebrity chef offering: James Martin Kitchen.

Terminal Information – Arriving

The airport is just a short drive from the city centre. Tickets on the Aerobus cost €6* (about £4.75) and is valid for one hour on all public buses once you reach town. Budget travellers will be glad to hear that cheaper public buses are available from the bus stop located about ten minutes walking distance from the airport. If money is no object, you can expect to pay around €15* (just under £12) for a taxi into Bologna.

Practical Information

We recommend arriving at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart, giving yourself extra time if you're flying during the school holidays or have luggage to check in.
