Terminal Information – Departing
This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.
Flights to Durban leave from terminal B of Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport. This is the domestic terminal. Shops in this terminal include Occhiali (accessories), CNA (newsagents), Exclusive Books, Stogies (cosmetics), Capi (electronics), @Play (sports) and Makgala's (jewellery). There's also a pharmacy on the retail level.
If you like to eat before boarding you'll be fairly spoiled for choice. The domestic terminal offers a range of places to eat including local favourite Anat, a Shawarma joint. There's also a KFC if you're in the mood for fried chicken and a Debonair's Pizza for Italian snacks. There's a Wimpy for burgers and a Raj for Indian cuisine. Fournos Bakery serve up tasty baked goods, but if you're in the mood for something healthy you can grab a salad from Kauai. There are a few coffee shops including Cafe Dulce and Cafe Nescafe, as well as pub Keg & Aviator.
The domestic terminal doesn't have free Wi-Fi, but you can get connected at the Airport Online outlet just after passing through security. There are five lounges in the domestic terminal: South African Airways Lounge, British Airways Slow Lounge, Bidvest Sky Lounge and Menzies Mashonza Lounge.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Durban King Shaka International Airport is about 25 miles from downtown Durban. There's an hourly shuttle bus from the airport to the city which charges ZAR 80. Taxis to the city are more expensive: expect to pay upwards of ZAR 400. Alternatively you can book car hire at Durban Airport and drive yourself into town.
Although this is an internal flight, it's a good idea to keep your passport on you. Airline staff sometimes ask to see photographic identification during check-in or at the boarding gate. We recommend arriving at the airport no later than 90 minutes before flight departure.
