Terminal Information – Departing
Flights to Cape Town depart from Terminal B, which is reserved for domestic departures. The terminal has a good range of shops and places to grab a bite to eat. If you're meeting someone special in Cape Town you can pick up a bouquet at Flower Centre, or some jewellery at Makgala's. McGinty's is a great place for a pre-flight tipple, and there's a KFC if you need a quick snack before your flight. Wi-Fi is available in the departure area for half an hour, perfect for picking up work emails (or uploading last minute selfies). Economy passengers can pay for lounge access in Bidvest Premier Lounge and Bidvest Sky Lounge (both £20*), where you can enjoy unlimited internet access as well as a range of complimentary snacks and drinks.
Terminal Information – Arriving
There are three options for getting from the airport to the city centre: bus, metered taxi, or driving yourself in a rental car. MyCiti buses run between the airport and the city centre every 20 minutes. One-way tickets cost R65* (about £2.90). If you would rather take a taxi you can expect to pay about R300-400* (about £13-18). Car hire prices vary from company to company and can change based on the dates you want to rent. You can compare prices with Skyscanner to find the best deals. Rental agencies operating from the airport include Avis, Thrifty, Sixt, Budget, First Car Rental, Hertz, National, and Tempest.
Although you don't need a passport to fly domestic, most airlines will ask for proof of identification when you check in or are at the departure gate. South Africans can use their driving licenses, but if you're from another country (like the UK) it's best to use your passport. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 90 minutes before departure. Give yourself extra time if you're flying during the school holidays or if you have luggage to check in.
