Terminal Information – Departing
Inverness Airport has one terminal. If you're hungry we recommend grabbing a bite before you go through security. There are two restaurants in the airport's public area: the D'Lish Landside Restaurant and The Meeting Place. After security your options are limited to The Airside Cafe and Bar, which is fine if you just need a quick snack or coffee before boarding. Shops at the airport include WH Smith and souvenir stores The Fly Knip and Jail at the Airport. There are two executive lounges: The Exchange, which is designed for business travellers and has lots of desks and fast Wi-Fi, and the Servisair lounge which offers more comfortable seating and a range of snacks and drinks. If you don't want to pay for lounge access but need to get online, don't worry. Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport and there are some 'pay as you go' computer terminals too.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Birmingham Airport has one terminal. The arrivals hall has a WH Smith, a Costa coffee shop and an M&S Simply Food. The car hire desks are located here too, for those of you planning to drive. Public transport between the airport and Birmingham city centre is widely available. There's a free shuttle bus to Birmingham International Train Station, and from there you can hop on a train to New Street Station for £3*. National Express and Megabus coaches are also available: we recommend pre-booking your tickets to avoid disappointment. There are also five local buses which run between the airport and the city, but these services have meandering routes and can be quite slow. Another option is to take a taxi. Expect to pay £25* if you're going to central Birmingham.
You don't need a valid passport to fly to Birmingham from Inverness, but you will be asked to show some photographic ID before boarding. Flybe have a full list of permitted identification types on their website: it includes driving licenses, NUS cards, and recently expired passports.
