What to expect in Alicante
Spain is one hour ahead of the UK and the currency is the Euro (€). The Alicante region is a lot cheaper than Bristol. Meals are about half the price, while beer is about 75% cheaper. The weather is hotter, too: during the height of summer the average temperature is 26°C (compared to 18°C in Bristol). Remember to bring a sun-hat and plenty of sunscreen. Most people speak English, especially in the resorts, but it's a good idea to learn a few Spanish phrases. Hello (hola), goodbye (adios), please (por favor) and thank you (gracias) are good words to know.
