Flybe is the only airline offering direct flights from Birmingham to Aberdeen.
Passengers travelling to Aberdeen with Flybe need to go to the 100-130 check in area, to your left as you enter the terminal building. The airport recommends that passengers arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled arrival time. An Express Lane is available at security, allowing you to pass through priority lanes and move through security more quickly. Passengers can book in advance for £3 per person or pay at machines at the entrance to security.
Birmingham Airport has a great selection of shops, food outlets and facilities in the departures hall. There are shops for holiday essentials like Boots, Dixons and WHSmith. Passengers can also shop for luxuries at Victoria’s Secret, Pandora, Hugo Boss and JD Sport. A duty free shop offers a range of perfumes, alcohol and cigarettes while the Discover England shop is the place for gifts and souvenirs.
There are lots of options for food and drink too, from fast food restaurants like Burger King to the popular All Bar One. Pret a Manger, Frankie and Benny’s, Wetherspoon, Giraffe and Costa Coffee all also have outlets at Birmingham Airport.
Birmingham Airport is also home to a number of premium lounges. Entry to the Aspire Lounge can be paid for in advance online or at the lounge reception. Passengers are treated to a range of complimentary drinks and snacks, Wi-Fi access and views of the runway. There are also charging facilities for electronic devices. No.1 Lounge offers a similar service which includes complimentary drinks, a bistro serving freshly prepared hot and cold dishes and meeting rooms supported by a business service.
Aberdeen Airport is seven miles north west of Aberdeen city centre and has one terminal. A number of car hire companies can be found in the Car Hire building which is accessed via a covered walkway to the left of the main terminal. National, Avis, Hertz, Europcar and Enterprise are all based there.
An alternative to car hire, passengers can take public transport into the city centre. There are regular buses with routes passing by the airport terminal. It takes around 30 minutes to reach the city centre by bus and there are a variety of routes to choose from. Bear in mind that in the evening and at weekends, services don’t run as regularly.
Passengers can also choose to travel by rail. Dyce is the nearest train station to the airport, offering services into Aberdeen city centre and surrounding areas. It’s just two miles from the terminal and can be reached by either taxi or bus.
Flying on a domestic flight from Birmingham to Aberdeen, you won’t necessarily need your passport. However, you will need some form of photographic identification. It’s best to check with your chosen airline which forms of ID they accept before travelling.
