WestJet announces launch of four new flights

Canadian cheap flights carrier WestJet has announced that it will be adding Yellowknife, Sydney, San Francisco and San Diego to its network of flight destinations.

The new flights form part of the airline’s 2009 summer schedule, with the destinations taking the number of cities served by WestJet in Canada, the US and Mexico to 55.

Non-stop flights between Edmonton and Yellowknife and Toronto and Sydney will commence on May 4th and 5th respectively, while the Calgary to San Diego route will begin on June 1st.

WestJet’s service from Calgary to San Francisco will come into operation on June 2nd.

Commenting on the new flights, Bob Cummings, WestJet’s executive vice-president of guest experience and marketing, said the airline was "extremely proud" of the new routes.

"We are excited to be flying to Canada’s north for the first time in our history and look forward to connecting more Canadians with Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories," he said.

The airline announced earlier this week that it would offer passengers the ability to book flights to Canada using an online link through partner airline southwest.com.
