London City has been named the best airport in Britain by readers of Wanderlust magazine for the fifth year in succession.
The Docklands airport, which received the Gold Award for Top UK Airport, was presented with the prize by Lyn Hughes, Wanderlust’s editor-in-chief, at the Destinations Travel Show on February 4th.
Commenting on the accolade, London City Airport chief executive Richard Gooding said: "We are delighted to have won this prestigious award again and are pleased that Wanderlust readers continue to vote London City as the best UK airport."
London City, which is located close to Canary Wharf and offers easy onward access to the City, was praised for its ongoing customer service commitment and convenient position.
It went head-to-head with Singapore Changi Airport for the award after an initial 556 were nominated.
The Docklands airport recently began a multi-million pound reconfiguration programme at its single terminal, which it hopes will improve passenger comfort further.
London City is located less than a mile from the ExCeL exhibition centre, two miles from the site of the 2012 Olympics and three miles from Canary Wharf.
