US cheap flights carrier Spirit Airlines will launch new flights to Armenia in Colombia from Fort Lauderdale on November 13th.
Armenia is famed for its location in Colombia’s coffee triangle, which is considered to produce the world’s best mild coffee.
Located in the Colombian Andes close to Pereira and Manizales, the area is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination thanks to its parks and opportunities for horse riding, bird watching and other outdoor activities.
Spirit pricing analyst Marilyn Manrique said the airline was "excited" to introduce passengers from the US to South America’s "renowned coffee triangle".
"We are looking forward to liberating even more Colombians from high fares, not only in Armenia, but the surrounding cities of the region that are within driving distance of Armenia such as Pereira," she commented.
Last year, Spirit Airlines became the first carrier to fly to Bogota. It has also introduced flights to Cartagena, one of the country’s primary tourist destinations.
Spirit was recently voted ‘best airline’ by the International Business Council of Florida.
