Southampton Airport has been shortlisted for the Airport of the Year Award in the TTG Travel Awards due to be held later this year.
The prize ceremony, which is run by Travel Trade Gazette, will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on September 22nd.
Kevin Brown, Southampton Airport’s managing director, said the awards are recognised as "a universal benchmark of quality" in the travel sector.
"Southampton Airport really focuses upon providing an easy, fast and friendly service to ensure every passenger breezes through the airport," he commented.
"This, together with the airport being named the top in Europe for customer service in the ACI Awards, really demonstrates our commitment to putting the passenger first."
ABTA – The Travel Association, Thomson and Virgin Holidays will be among the judges at the ceremony, which will also feature leading lights in commercial and retail sectors.
Southampton is the UK’s 20th largest airport having handled just under two million passengers over the course of 2008.
