Skyscanner.net has been recognised as one of Britain’s fastest growing travel technology companies, taking 21st place in the Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 this weekend.
Skyscanner was the highest ranked business in the travel industry, alongside Hostelbookers which took 62nd place and Cheapflights who came in at 100th.
The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 ranks Britain’s private technology, telecoms and digital media companies by their average sales growth over the last three years. Skyscanner’s sales rose 87% a year from £1.4m in 2007 to £8.8m in 2010.
CEO Gareth Williams commented:
“We are delighted to have been ranked so highly and have outperformed many peers in the travel technology arena. Skyscanner has seen sales take off in the downturn as budget conscious travellers search online for the best deal. Skyscanner’s advanced technology combined with commercial relationships with all of the key airlines and online travel agents has taken the business to the top spot in Europe with over 10 million users per month. We are now striving to achieve our ambition of becoming number one worldwide.”
