Skyscanner Co-Founder takes on Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon

Bon Grimes, Skyscanner Co-Founder and Product Director will this weekend (2nd May) take on the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, one of the world’s most infamous and extreme sporting events.

Bon will plunge into the frigid waters and have to dodge sharks, jellyfish and sea lions during the 1.5 mile swim from Alcatraz Island to shore. This will be followed by an 18 mile bike ride and an 8 mile run through the rugged trails of Golden Gate Recreation Area.

Bon said:

“Only 2000 triathletes are selected for the race, so when I put my name down, I was safe in the knowledge that the chance of getting a place was very slim. It’s going to be the toughest race I’ve ever done, but I’m up for the challenge.”

Bon will be racing on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support – if you would like to make a donation please visit www.justgiving.com/Bonamy – just a small donation can make a difference.

Good Luck Bon – everyone at Skyscanner HQ is rooting for you!
