Adria Airways has marked the official launch of its flights to Madrid from Ljubljana.
The airline introduced the service as part of its new summer timetable on April 4th, with cheap flights available twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
To denote the official inauguration of the route, Tadej Tufek, the president of Adria’s management board, travelled on today’s flight to Madrid alongside guests including journalists and representatives of travel agencies.
He said he was hopeful the flights to Madrid from Ljubljana would prove popular with both Slovenians and Spaniards.
"I am very pleased that we have opened this new connection and I expect it to satisfy both Slovene travellers and the Spanish tourists we hope to see in Slovenia," he commented.
"The connection with Madrid is also very important to us because in partnership with Spanair we offer good connections throughout Spain."
Last month the airline announced its intention to replace its Airbus 320 fleet with more modern Airbus 319 aircraft.
