Mexicana is to defy the current economic climate and start offering direct flights from Gatwick to Mexico from January.
The first Mexicana flight to London from Mexico City will take off on January 17th, with two flights scheduled for each week on Wednesdays and Saturdays thereafter.
Meanwhile, return flights will take off for Mexico City on Thursdays and Sundays.
"This new route forms part of our expansion strategy and is intended to meet demand for better travel alternatives to and from London," commented Mexicana chief commercial officer Isaac Volin.
Additional flights will be added to the route from February 17th, ensuring that a daily Mexicana service from Mexico City to London is operational.
The decision to add a London route to Mexicana’s service was taken after research suggested Mexican and British passenger demand would be high.
Mexicana also revealed recently that it would be offering new flights to Sao Paolo and Orlando.
