Qatar Airways has commenced daily cheap flights to Tokyo from Doha in what is the carrier’s 89th international destination.
The Japanese capital is the second location in the country served by the airline, which already operates flights to Osaka, and it becomes the fourth new route launched by Qatar airways so far this year.
Flights to Bengaluru, formerly Bangalore, Copenhagen and Ankara have already been introduced, while routes to Barcelona, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires will commence in June.
Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways’ chief executive officer, said that flights to Tokyo had been eyed by the carrier "for a very long time".
"This is a momentous occasion for Qatar Airways," he commented.
"I would like to offer my thanks to the Japanese government and officials at Narita International Airport for their support and assistance in facilitating the development of our newest route."
Yesterday (April 28th), the airline launched new technology enabling passengers in check-in using their mobiles.
